weâre simply meant to be / cody & lexi.
Lexi never thought sheâd be here. After two failed engagements sheâd kind of given up hope that sheâd ever find anyone, much less find someone whoâd actually become her husband one day. But Cody coming back into her life had changed everything. God, she loved that man more than she could even put into words. He really was her soulmate, best friend, favorite person. She was lucky to have married him.
The ceremony itself had felt like a dream, she still almost couldnât believe that sheâd actually just married Cody earlier that night. And theyâd somehow managed to take pictures, do the whole damn thing and now they were celebrating in front of their friends, she couldnât be happier. Sheâd changed into her second dress shortly after their meal and was currently making her rounds, thanking everyone.Â
Spotting Cody, Lexi ordered a couple shots and leaned against the bar, waiting. âMrs. Runnels.â She smiled at him. âI love the way that sounds.â She let out a laugh, placing a kiss on his cheek. âI wouldnât dream of it. In fact.â She grabbed the two shots, âI was waiting for you.â
There was nobody better for him than Lexi. At this point, he wouldnât even be able to function without her. Theyâd already been through so much together but he wouldnât change a thing. They really were meant to be and now they were getting to spend the rest of their lives together. Cody couldnât think of anyone better to be by his side. The big bonus? She got along well with his daughter. He wasnât one to say this lightly but everything was perfect.
The wedding had gone off without a hitch. People cried, people laughed but most importantly people were enjoying themselves. Now that people were drinking, the real party was starting and Cody had already spotted a few people causing some shenanigans. He didnât mind, though. As long as people were having fun and not fighting then he didnât give a damn.
âHmm, me too,â he smiled, leaning down to press a kiss to her lips. He took the shot from her hand, leaning one arm against the bar as he stood opposite her. âI wouldâve been so betrayed. Hereâs to us,â he said, lifting the shot up before downing it. He couldnât help the grimace as he felt the liquid burn his throat. He placed the glass on the bar, raising an eyebrow at his new wife. âWe going for another one?â
