Mist is a revamped version of a theme I used when I first started creating Tumblr themes. Back then, it was much simpler, but as my skills improved, I decided to revisit the project, give it a complete refresh, and make it available here.

thank you so much for the love since 2020. marie and i came up with this idea years ago because we love theme making a lot. she has long been retired but i promise you i constantly try to lure her back.
we've grown a lot in the span of those five years and so is this blog and it's thanks to your support.
please know that even if we are busy, i (since she hasn't logged back in here) try to reblog stuff whenever i go deep diving into the related theme tags.
also know that, feel free to submit your themes and pages, regardless if they are free or paid so that i could reblog it. i may not see it asap but know that i will check.
It now fully supports new format, so posts should display much more smoothly and consistently across different types of content. no more awkward formatting issues 🙏
Along with that, I also refreshed parts of the theme’s look — nothing too drastic, but enough to make everything feel cleaner, more modern, and easier on the eyes.
Please note that I’ll be removing all old versions of the violet frequency theme code, and this will be the main updated version moving forward. If you’re currently using an older version, I highly recommend updating to avoid compatibility issues with newer tumblr post formats.

Dynamic Overlay Menu: When a sidebar image is uploaded, clicking "More Links" reveals your menu as a sleek overlay directly on top of the image. If no image is used, the menu seamlessly transforms into an elegant, floating speech bubble instead. (See photo below for reference)

blog name !! important
make sure you fill out the blog name field, this is what will show on the top of all your original posts. to clarify: your blog name is your blog’s url - for example: phantomcodes
responsiveness
when the browser window gets too small the sidebar will disappear and become toggleable, the sidebar toggle button will appear on the top right below the day/night button
the pagination will move to the bottom of the page below the posts
updates tab
the updates tab has up to 6 updates each with an icon, optional title, & text and space for a separate text section
leave the 'update 1' field blank if you don't want the updates tab
general notes
many things will not show up if they’re left empty, for example: if you don’t want the title stats leave the title stat fields blank, etc.
reminders
remember tumblr’s customize panel is buggy, toggle the options on/off before saving. similarly some things will not appear in the customize panel preview - save and exit to view your changes
