Although I love well established retro underwear brands, it is great to find smaller independent designers. I especially like the small designers who regularly wear foundations themselves and there...

DO NOT BE THIS PERSON.
Just. Don’t.
This should be common sense, I don’t care how old you are. You are not entitled to -anything-. I bust my ass and make a living just as hard as anyone else does and this crap right here? Biggest slap in the face to artists that is humanly possible.
I’m sorry if some of my items are expensive but here’s the thing: That’s what they cost to make. This is my livelihood. This is literally what I do for a living. It helps feed me, my critters, my boyfriend, and pays the bills. It is my job and I love it and I deserve to be fairly compensated for my time, materials, and work.
So, don’t pull this crap online. Don’t pull this shit in stores. Don’t pull this asshattery at cons. Just. Don’t.
I don’t often talk about my customers (but with very, VERY few exceptions, they are awesome), but I had a guy at my last convention try to haggle me down to half my asking price for a shadowbox. I tried to explain my reason for pricing, including the time and costs associated with making each box.
He asked me if I enjoyed making them. Of course I do.
"Then it’s like the time making then is nothing, right?"
Bitch, you do not get to tell me my time is worthless. Any possibility of lowering my prices at that point just vanished. Leave my table.
Don’t ever be That Guy.
I’ve said this before but if you wouldn’t try to haggle with your plumber because you could totally fix your toilet yourself or tell your doctor you’ll pay them in exposure because you’ll recommend their surgical skills to all your friends, why would you do that to an artist? My skill as a seamstress, someone else’s jewelry making abilities or drawing skills or musicianship, or any kind of creative work should not be devalued just because it is creative. If you want our products, respect us enough to pay for the time, skill, and effort that we put into making them.
^^^
Also true for lingerie designers.
