I think he'd believe it right away. No need to convince him, just hearing that you want to stay forever, taking part in adventure after adventure would keep him motivated for, well, ever! All he really needs is one person there who sees and appreciates all his efforts, so Caine is overjoyed to have his purpose recognized by someone for once.

This also means that he'll do everything to never lose your support however... Everything. Anything. You'll be prioritized over everyone else, even to your own detriment... Actually, you may never have another moment of privacy ever again...
