new places with new people are always stressful for bb-8. after all, there’s no telling how they may react to a resistance droid. it’s for this reason that the little astromech usually prefers to hide until they can get a read on those around them, but this time they didn’t find a spot quite fast enough.

they stay balanced on the first stair, not wanting to take the time to essentially hop down them until lina at least has a chance to answer.

they make sure they’re as hidden behind rey as possible before any explanation is offered.

they take a moment to reconnect their head to their body before their optic starts scanning the now decimated area for their friend.

for a droid as small as bb-8, doing something as simple as getting the attention of a friend can  ( occasionally )  be a challenge. fortunately they aren’t above head-butting rey until she notices them.

it’s a good - no, it’s an okay plan. and more importantly, poe is counting on her success. or at least that’s what bb-8 keeps telling herself so she’ll stay still and continue pretending that she’s been reprogrammed instead or rolling off to the nearest hiding spot.
