That’s your opinion.
there’s nothing romantic about a pedophile rapist, the senseless murder-suicide of teenagers because families can’t get their shit together or the hypocrisy of the roaring 20s
FINALLY SOMEONE SAYS IT
the great gatsby could only be called romantic if you’re talking about nick’s infatuation with gatsby I mean really
Really tho, Nick was 100% gay for Gatsby
The Great Gatsby was 100% gay
In defense of Romeo and Juliet - yeah they were 13 and 15, and it did end disastrously but a story can still be romantic and also be a tragedy:
Can you remember what being a young teen and in love was like - it was all consuming, there is something special about your first love (even if it does make you act needlessly dramatic and rather rashly) .
Also Romeo and Juliet started speaking jointly in a Sonnet on their first meeting, which is pretty high on the romantic scale - can you imagine when people ask you how you met your partner being like ‘well he took my hand in a dance and we connected so much we started speaking in a sonnet and were finishing each others sentences by the end of our first dance’ - basically super romantic - and it is designed to be viewed as romantic, but it was also intended to be viewed as a tragedy especially because of their young age (the average age for getting married was in your mid twenties in the Elizabethan era).
In short: its tragic, but also romantic and was intended to be both.
So it's been like 3 years since I posted this originally and people still don't know what "read romantically" means.

What a perfect night for kitten cuddles, a good book, and Adele.
