The orange gem gave a small smile, nodding,

Amber approached, looking all around the pad, before stepping up onto it. 

The orange gem took Amethyst’s hand carefully, giving her a small smile. 

"It means it doesn't work anymore..." Amber grumbled, her shoulders drooping, "It means I can't go home... Not from here."

"... I know there aren't." Amber mumbled, her hands lowering from their defensive stance, "I've tried them all. They either lead somewhere else on this dumb planet, or they're broken!"

“No no no!” a young woman shouted as she sprinted to the broken tank. She scooped up the few fish that had spilled out and handed them over to the staff to take care of. She then turned to the orangey girl that had made the mess. Touri was angry, but her kind and youthful appearance made it difficult to portray that. She took a step towards the other and slipped, falling on the floor. Immediately, she poofed and retreated into her gem. Only seconds later, she was back.

Amber covered her mouth when the other poofed, her eyes going wide. Had… Had she done that?! There was another gem here, and she had POOFED HER?!

“You-you,” Touri had calmed down now that she had a better look at this new gem. She squinted in confusion at the other and summoned a similar golem- Touri sat at the center and it followed her movements, much like Topaz’s. She was trying to wrap her head around what this thing was. After a moment of awkward golem-offs she dismissed the illusion and stood on the floor again. “You didn’t mean to hurt anyone. I suppose everything will be okay.”

When the pink gem touched Amber’s armor, she scrambled backwards slightly, a look of pure fear on her face. She was shaking like a leaf inside the summon, the golem trembling along with her as she watched the other mimic her weapon. What was going on?? She had never seen another gem make a golem like an Amber, let alone a human! … Or… Maybe this person wasn’t a human? She DID look a little different… 

Touri’s teal hand recoiled at Amber’s fear.

Amber quickly shook her head. She was NOT de-summoning her armor! No way! What if this was some kind of trick?? How did she know that this person wouldn’t shatter her or poof her as soon as she did??

“Oh my stars…” She muttered to herself. “That hurt..” She checked both her gems, sighing in relief when neither were damaged. Standing, she heard a shriek. Startled, she looked towards the sound. Pulling her feet free of the dirt threatening to trap her, she got a little closer to the source. “Hello?” She called. “ I - Is someone there? Are you hurt?” She didn’t move in fear of scaring the other, just stood there hoping for an answer.

When the figure fell back into the crater, Amber lay there for a moment, trying to calm herself as she struggled to decide what to do. Should she take this opportunity to run? To get out of there? Or... Should she investigate?

“Hey, don’t give me that look.” He said, raising his hands slightly in a defensive way. “I also do it to be nice, ya know. You looked like you were having a pretty bad time back there.”

Amber watched the human closely. He seemed so… Strange. He helped her, but it seemed as though he thought of it as no big deal. Was this some kind of trick? Was he trying to mock her? She was so confused… 

He laughed in surprise, like the answer to her question was obvious. He almost seemed insulted. “Because it sucked, that’s why! The crappiest town you could imagine! People in the streets, the mayor constantly stealing from us… And don’t forget my wow-so-lovely parents who kept fighting all the time. Things were so bad I tried to personally beat up the mayor!”

Amber didn’t understand any of this. It made her feel... Uneasy. This human was obviously very passionate about whatever he was saying, but the little orange gem had no idea what anything he was describing was. What was a town? What was a Mayor? What were parents?

“Wh- NO! Your PURPOSE!” Amber insisted, “Why are you HERE? On EARTH!”

“I-I was made here!”  Black Star cried, shielding her face with her arms.  Lucky for Amber, Black Star didn’t know about her gem type.  Although she was friends with an Amber that looked much different from her.

The orange gem’s expression softened slightly, and she took a step back. She didn’t dare lower her golem, but she no longer looked as if she was ready for a fight.
