Hope LP is ready for the biggest, saddest eyes in the world.

“Loopey!” He practically yells when he sees her. And then he nearly crushes her in a hug, giving his little sister a squeeze. 

As if Dawn making grabby hands would ever be ignored! Launchpad scooped her up happily, nuzzling her with his beak before giving her a little kiss on her head.

“That’s my kiddo! Who’s ready to go flyin’~?”

“Oh she’s doing pretty good! Not many people ask about her. I’m sure she’ll appreciate it. 

And how are you?” 

“Oh she is! Not many people agree with me!” Fethry says giving a small clap of his hands when the other said such nice things about her. 

“Yeah I see that.” Terk says gesturing at him. “You’re no rooster. You’re just a duck. And a small one at that. Y’look useless.” he says, voice laced in disgust as if Huey had a choice in what size he was. 

Terk lets him stand. 

“I got a few ideas for you.” Terk says giving a small shrug. “The main one is that you’re going to fight for me. And you’re either gonna win, or you’re either gonna lose. I’ll see. But, words’ going to get out. And it’s going to reach a certain pair of ears that has been ignoring my phone calls for the last couple of years.” he leans down to poke Huey in the chest. 

“You’re gonna earn me money.” he grins. “One way or another.” 

✧ — ⋆ Huey’s bill wrinkles at Terk’s words, specifically at being called just a duck. Like that’s some kind of insult. And then he properly insults him calling him small and- and useless.

His eyes narrow. 

          “ I’m not use- ” He tries to argue, but Terk keeps speaking over him. 

He doesn’t like the idea of being used for fights, or to make someone money, but he especially doesn’t like the idea of being used to lure Rufio into a trap. But as he’s poked in the chest by a single one of Terk’s fingers and sent stumbling back a few feet, he’s thinking he might not have much of a choice. Not until a time where he can find a way to escape. 

“Worst comes to worse I can lock you in a tiny little room with enough food and water to last you until Rufio comes back to me. I know ‘im. He acts all tough but he’s got a soft spot that I never could snuff out. 

Dawn was normally such a happy duckling... But when her papa left, every babysitter is cursed with the same thing.

A very fussy baby.

She doesn’t understand what he’s saying, she’s far too young for that still. But for the moment she doesn’t seem on the verge of bawling her eyes out about her papa. 

“Morg I announced it to the world last night.” but he supposes a phone call probably would have been better. 

He sighs quietly. 

“Sorry… I was laying low for a bit. Wanted to be outta the spotlight for once… I shoulda called the moment I got out of the hospital.” He would only admit to being wrong because they’d been friends for  so long. 

“Ah, you’re lucky I like you, Jim. I’d be furious if I wasn’t so happy to learn you’re alive, at the very least. But a phone call may have been nice.”

She wags her finger at him regardless, hair swirling up behind her, green eyes narrowed as her bill scrunches up, leaning forward so she can look him more closely in the eye.

“You wouldn’t do that to your favorite actor, now would you Morg?” He laughs. “I’ll be sure to give you a call the next time I fake my death.” Hopefully something he wouldn’t have to do again. 

Scrooge watches him, he wants to reach out and set his hand on the others shoulder, but he let’s him have his space. He figures this is going to be hard.

“… How about the beginning lad? And we’ll work from there.”

“It was Jayden’s boyfriend who called me first. Back when I was fifteen. It was a double date since we are best friends. He wanted to introduce me to his best friend.” Memories of that night washed over Louie easily and he closed his eyes. It might have been nearly six years ago but he remembered. 

Is that how long this has been happening? Is that how long Scrooge has been blind for?
