Reply to Metasexual -- Shuten and Nasutei Feels
And the thing is, Nasuetiās lost so much by the time Shuten comes along in the second seasonā sheās lost so much that anything she can gain means so much more than it would otherwise. What she had the potential to gain in Shuten would have really broken the mold: itās obvious she sees an equal in him. Theyāre trying to find their place in the armor legend togetherā because as much as she loves and sympathizes with the Troopers, their roles in the legend couldnāt be more different. Nasueti is a chosen witness to the legend; one meant to perpetuate the story so the lives of her friends aren'tlost to time.Ā
And maybe Kaos never meantĀ to give her the staff, maybe she was neverĀ meantĀ to suffer the way she hadābut she did and Shuten is the one left that has to contextualize that, make itĀ rightĀ somehow⦠if thatās even possible.Ā
I find myself thinking about the scene where he basically tells her that heās not completely sureĀ whyĀ Kaos chose him to carry on his legacy, and that he understands if sheĀ won'tĀ forgive him for trying to kill her, but that wonāt stop him from protecting her and Jun. Everything about Nasuetiās body language says she wants to move towards him, that itās not fear holding her back but that sheās struck with an understanding so profound she canāt move.Ā SheĀ isnāt alone anymore. For the first time since her grandfatherĀ died in her arms, she isnāt alone. Ā And for a second, she doesnāt know what to evenĀ doĀ with that until Jun speaks up. She lets a child speak for her, because Jun can get the important points across: theyāre not scared, and theyāre not angry. They might be aĀ lotĀ of other things (unsure, relieved, overwhelmed) but Shuten doesnāt need to prove anything to them.
He already did, after all. Ā
And as the second season goes on, I think it becomes really obvious to Nasutei that she really is seeing Shuten giveĀ everythingĀ in his redemption, and being a part of that, on top of everything elseĀ kills herĀ because in her mind Shuten is the one whoās suffered. Ā
