i just love all the stories about production on project hail mary. they didn't use a single green/blue screen in the whole film. they built the whole interior of the hail mary. the petrova line scene was done practically by putting infrared lights on a chicken wire cage. rocky's voice was one of the puppeteers because he did such a good job during filming that they couldn't imagine anyone else voicing him. and rocky was a practical puppet/animatronic! sandra huller picked sign of the times as her karaoke song and she asked her daughter if it was still a cool song. i just feel like there was so much love making this film and im obsessed

Theres this quiet implication thats not just "you have no family no pets and no partners therefore you have no one to leave behind" its also "we, your coworkers who you might have called friends and who have been at your side while we all save the world for close to half a decade, are not close enough to you to even be mentioned in Stratts little speech. We will not stop this, we wont even protest or apologize. You have no friends at you side in your final moments." And i think thats even more heartbreaking honestly.

yknow. i really appreciate ryan gosling's commitment to keeping the canon Grace reaction of just fucking crying the entire time. it's in character, and it's like, an extremely realistic reaction to the situation at hand. But. from most actor's ive heard (both irl friends and interviews from professionals) have bemoaned crying scenes in film, because it can be very draining and give you a splitting headache to do multiple takes etc etc. So they could have dialed it back and saved the tears for the more poignant moments. but no. they clearly went fuck it, we're committing. Grace is a Crier. here. have him crying in happiness, sadness, despair, terror, relief, disbelief, overwhelming joy. Have some heaving sobs. have some single tears. oohhh this man is gonna Cry about it.

grace really has the best ending in all of fiction. human terrarium made especially to his tastes. can walk to work and does the job he loves. never needs to worry about bills or rent. meburgers. best friend visits every day. he's got the ideal life right there.

Personally I hate AI because it uses slave labor, is killing the planet and is making people stupid, but that's just me. The soulless art aspect is just one little piece of my grander disdain.

wait how does AI use slave labor? Do you mean the human works that are stolen and not credited or compensated? Because technically under capitalism everything is exploited but there are varying degrees

These workers are working in sweatshop conditions for less than 2 bucks USD per hour.
