hero/heroine [ clay + crystal ]
Never had she ever really been in situations like these. Yes, sheâs heard of them; sheâs read them in fiction books, in nonfiction books. Listened to them in the form of stories, music. Even seen them acted out during the 21st century by actors on screen. It was something she really didnât ever think sheâd get â but yet here she was, standing there and not knowing what to do. A part of her wishes that she were a mind reader, so this would be a lot easier and sheâd understand the look in his eyes. Instead she just sighs and plays with the hairs on the back of his neck in response.
Sheâs almost shocked out of his grip, as she sees her dad, eyes going to Clay for the smallest of seconds as she opens her mouth to speak. He looks at her, then him, with a slight look of shock in his eyes â but it soon turned into frustration as walked between the two, one hand on each Dauntlessâ shoulder as he leads them farther away from their classes and onto a familiar path that the brunette knew all too much. âDad - what are you doing?â she hisses as her glance lands on Clay once again from across her father, giving him an apologetic look. Her father, however doesnât say anything, until theyâre reached her old compounds, otherwise known as her old home. Only when theyâre inside does he let the both of them go, looking down at the each of them. âWhat do you kids think youâre doing here, Erudite? Itâs not safe for you. And Crystal â sweetie youâre smarter than this.â But Crystal only bites her cheek, looking anywhere but at him and their house, instead looking out through a window instead. âI donât know what youâre talking about, dad.â
Before he knows it, the three of them are walking away from the hallway and moving away from the main building in the Erudite Sector. He knows where they're going, too, because the only thing in this direction that could be were the homes in the compound. He looks at Crystal, searching her eyes for any sense of what exactly is going on, but still he's unsure. They continue the walk in silence, finally stopping when they are safe and sound inside the room. He suspects this is where Crystal once lived and grew up, probably a faint memory for her now.
He listens to the older man talk, looking back and forth between him and Crystal. His eyes stay on the girl for a while after the man finishes talking, though, noticing her acting a little off. That's when Clay decided it's time for him to cut out the silence and speak up. "U- uh.. We're here with the rest of Dauntless. Thought bringing us here would help us with training and stuff.." he says awkwardly in response to the male, shifting his weight from one foot to the other. "Er- I'm Clayton."
