Set in the eighteen months between seasons three and four, Parker and JJ celebrate Valentine's day together as a couple with cute gifts, dates, and sex.
Flipping the last set of pancakes, I looked out the window at the rising sun. I had been up for about an hour, which meant I got up when it was dark. A very rare thing for me, something that should have been recorded in history.
It was a special day, so I wanted to treat my friends. They put up with me 365 days a year; I figured I could show all of them how much I loved them on the one day a year made for love.
The rest of the days, they could go fuck themselves. Lovingly.
My love language had always been food, so at the ass-crack of dawn, I got up to make everyone red velvet pancakes in the shape of hearts, with homemade whipped cream and strawberries to be eaten. I realized halfway through making the pancakes that whipped cream wasn't the best thing to hand out on a day of love, but it was too late.
I plated all the pancakes on trays, taking each tray individually to everyone's room. I placed them outside the doors, not daring to go in out of fear for what I may see. Instead I ding-dong-ditched the pancakes.
The last tray I brought up to mine and JJ's room, slowly opening the door. JJ was passed out in our bed, looking adorable as always.
When we discussed Valentine's Day, the discussion taking place three days ago because both of us procrastinated, we decided that we were going to keep it simple. JJ wanted to plan an evening for us, so I let him do that while I secretly planned a date for the afternoon. We agreed on no excessive gifts, trading it for a lot of sex.
"Morning, pretty boy." I cooed, placing the tray down on the bed and sliding myself beside him. He was so warm, I wanted to burrow myself in him and stay there forever.
"Morning, Turbo." JJ mumbled.
He was still half asleep, but I knew what would have him awake in seconds.
"I have food." I whispered in his ear, watching with a smile as he perked up instantly.
"What was that about food?"
"I wonder what would get you up faster. Saying there is food or saying I'm not wearing pants."
"Both." JJ shrugged. "I get up when it's time to eat."
I should have known that would be JJ's answer. Somehow, I always think he is more innocent than he is. I shouldn't, knowing my boyfriend.
"That's disgusting." I said.
"You don't seem to think so when my head's between your thighs." JJ said, wrapping his hand gently around my neck to pull me in for a kiss. "Happy Valentine's Day, love."
I was always someone who hated Valentine's Day. Who thought it was a money-making scheme from Hallmark for movies and cards. People should show their significant others and friends that they love them every day. But, with JJ, it felt different. I still stood by the fact that people should show love every day, and that it was a money-making scheme, but it was one I could suck up for a day.
"So, food?" JJ asked, pulling away from the kiss.
I couldn't compete for his love against food. I would lose.
"Red velvet pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream." I told JJ, placing the tray in between the two of us.
I had to say, I was pretty proud of how the pancakes turned out. They tasted amazing and looked like hearts, not butt cheeks. It was a win in my books.
"Two plates?" JJ asked with a giddy smile on his face.
"No. One is for me." I told him, grabbing my food before he could inhale it. "There's extra pancakes in the fridge if you are still hungry, though."
"And that, Parker Kate, is why I love you." JJ said.
JJ and I dug into our pancakes, talking and laughing like any other morning. At one point, JJ got whipped cream on his nose. How? I wasn't sure. But I almost choked laughing at him.
I love laughing with, or at, JJ.
"What's the plan for tonight?" I asked JJ, shoveling the last bite of pancake into my mouth.
"I don't know." JJ shrugged, being annoyingly mysterious.
"Come on, you have to tell me what we are doing so I know how much to pre-worry."
"Pre-worry?" JJ questioned.
"Yeah. I need to get my anxiety out now so I'm not anxious later." I told him.
Did pre-worrying ever work? No, I would be anxious in any public place. But at least I could prepare for it.
"You don't need to pre-worry." JJ said. "You'll have a good time."
I trusted JJ; I did. But I was still going to worry.
"Let me guess, your whole plan for the night involves your cock and nothing else?" I teased.
"Nope, I actually have something planned. My cock is only part of it."
I was intrigued. JJ didn't seem like the type of guy to plan something, especially something that left this bedroom.
Nevertheless, I was excited.
"Random question, is anyone else up?" JJ asked.
"I placed food outside their doors and knocked. I don't know if they are up. But if they are, they are distracted with food." I told JJ, getting a sense of where this was going.
His eyes were darker than seconds ago, and that damn dirty smirk was plastered on his face, making him look like a goofball.
We were Parker and JJ. There was no need for a Hallmark holiday to fuck, but we were going to take the opportunity.
I climbed on top of JJ, smiling at the boy underneath me. He was already hard, and the grey sweatpants he had on did not do a good job of hiding anything. Not that I was complaining. I'd prefer the sweatpants off.
JJ grabbed the back of my neck, using it to smash our lips together. He didn't ease into it; we never did.
His hands fell under my shirt, squeezing my chest with the perfect amount of pressure. Not enough that it hurt, but enough that it drove me crazy.
Deciding to drive JJ crazy as well, I slowly ground my hips down on him, smiling when he detached our lips and threw his head back.
"Fuck, you can't do that." JJ cussed.
"Do what?" I teased, doing the same thing again.
Not playing my games, JJ flipped me over, pinning me down to the bed. His lips fell to my neck, slowly trailing lower and lower until his head dipped under the covers.
He kissed up my thighs until his head was right where I needed him most. One of his big hands slipped into my pants, making me tremble with need.
He had barely done anything to me, and I was already drenched, desperate for him. JJ had control over my body that even I didn't have.
"Can I take these off?" JJ asked, his hands untying the strings for my sweatpants. Before I could answer, there were two knocks on our bedroom door.
"Dipper!" John B called. "I have something for you."
Of course it was John B at my door. The universe liked to laugh in my face whenever I was alone with JJ.
"Can it wait fifteen minutes?" I asked.
"I last way longer than fifteen minutes." JJ muttered from underneath the covers, getting a knee to the chest.
"I'm doing something nice. You can fuck your boyfriend later." John B said.
With an annoyed groan, JJ came back up from under the covers. We both knew John B was strong-willed, and we were only prolonging his visit. "Go see him. He's not going to leave."
John B wasn't going to leave, especially now that he knew what we were doing. He would plant himself in front of our bedroom door all day if he could.
I adjusted my clothes and hair before opening the door to John B, who was standing with one hand behind his back.
"I was really hoping you would have been blown this morning so you wouldn't be in such a cockblock-y mood." I greeted my brother.
Ignoring my statement, John B changed the subject. "I didn't know you were making pancakes this morning."
Pancakes? I could have been getting eaten out, and instead I was talking to my brother about pancakes?
"Yeah, I wanted to do something special for you guys." I said.
"They were really good." John B complimented.
"I have something for you." John B said, pulling out a single red rose from behind his back.
Back in kindergarten, the teacher handed out flowers on Valentine's Day for everyone to give to their mothers. Since John B and I didn't have one, she insisted we didn't need one. John B, being the stubborn child he was, stole a flower from her and walked straight up to me, giving the rose to me instead.
It was really sweet, and when my dad found out, he continued to buy John B a single red rose to give to me every year. Sparing the year I got dumped right before Valentine's Day, where the two of them loaded me up with enough chocolate that I wouldn't cry.
Even with Dad gone, John B has brought me a single red rose every year.
"Thanks, Bird." I said, smiling at one of my favorite memories.
I wrapped my arms around John B, placing my head against his chest. I loved my big brother, even when he was cockblocking me.
"I don't mean to interrupt this sweet moment, but I'd really like my girlfriend back." JJ said.
John B pushed the door open so he could see JJ. "No can do. Remember, we booked romantic cruises around the island with the charter boat, and Parker has to go help Heyward deliver flowers with Pope and Cleo."
Fuck, I had forgotten about that.
We were so desperate to keep business running as best we could that we would do anything for money. The boys thought of the idea of romantic tours of the island with champagne and chocolates, which surprisingly people booked. Then, Heyward was complaining that he needed people to help with deliveries today, so my dumb ass offered my help.
If I would had known this was how it was going to go, I wouldn't have agreed.
"We can go after." JJ told John B.
"We have to leave in fifteen minutes."
"I can make that work." JJ said.
"I thought you last way longer than fifteen minutes?" I teased.
"You guys have all day to fuck. I'm asking for a couple of hours of your time." John B said.
With murder in our eyes, JJ and I listened to John B and got out of bed, agreeing that we would make up for it later. We needed the money more than we needed each other.
"Woah? Is that Parker and JJ I see downstairs on Valentine's Day?" Kie asked.
"We all figured you wouldn't leave the bedroom today." Pope added.
They were being dramatic. JJ and I didn't fuck that much...during the day. We went to school and had jobs. At night, that was a different story. We had different jobs involving hand and blow.
"Yeah, well, Sarah didn't put out, so John B thinks everyone else needs to be sexually frustrated." JJ bit, getting hit with the kitchen towel by John B.
"Don't talk about her like that."
"I'm like ninety-nine percent sure I heard you guys fucking last night." Cleo said. "There's no way you are sexually frustrated."
"We didn't fuck!" I exclaimed. "We sixty-nined. It's totally different."
At my comment, John B banged his head against the kitchen counter, everyone else giving us JJ and me weird looks.
Then there was JJ, smirking in the corner at the memory.
"Can we please get out of here before JJ and Parker make me puke?" John B asked, heading for the back door.
"Why? I'm having fun!" JJ teased, following John B out the back door with Sarah and Kie on their tails. Their job was to watch the charter shops and make sure no one came in to buy shitty, last-minute gifts for their girlfriends. We bought flowers and chocolates yesterday, knowing some of our regulars would need them.
Shortly after John B, JJ, Sarah, and Kie left, the remaining three of us hopped into Pope's truck to head over to Heyward's. Pope and Cleo sat up in the front, with me popping my head between the seats to be part of the conversation.
"So, what do you guys have planned for today?" I asked Pope and Cleo.
"I'm going to cook Cleo dinner tonight at my parents place since they are going out for drinks." Pope said.
"Ooh, sexy cooking." I teased. "Are you going to do it naked?"
"I hope so." Cleo said, looking at her boyfriend.
"That is a safety hazard." Pope told us, ignoring the giggling coming from Cleo and me. No woman cared about safety when it came to her man cooking naked.
Actually, JJ would probably end up with a burn. It was likely he'd catch his dick on fire. Maybe sexy cooking was not for him.
"Also, this little lovebird wrote 250 reasons why he loved me." Cleo said, pulling a small notebook from her pocket.
"Oh my god!" I exclaimed, grabbing it from her hands. "That's adorable. Good job, Pope."
I flipped through the pages, ignoring anything that was dirty and only reading the cute ones.
God, what had JJ done to me? I wasn't someone who jumped at Valentine's crap. I'd make sarcastic comments about it, not call it adorable.
"I've got some ground to make up." Cleo said, placing her hand on Pope's thigh.
"Not with me here, please." I joked.
The three of us got to Heyward's, where he and his wife were wearing headbands with heart antlers. I was going to take a wild guess and assume it was not Heyward's idea.
"Hey, Pops! I love the look." I greeted.
"The things we do for love." He joked, looking at Cleo. "I'm hoping my son is proving that."
"Thank you, kids, for helping with deliveries today. I know there are other things -- people -- you'd rather be doing, but it takes a load off of me and your mama."
"Valentine's Day is for the people we love, not just our lovers." Pope said.
Together we loaded up Heyward's fishing boat, filling it to the brim with flowers and alcohol, ready to be Cupid's catalyst.
Because she is the best, Mama H gave us all matching headbands to her and her husband. Pope complained about putting it on but eventually succumbed to rocking the hearts with the rest of us.
"This should only take you an hour or so as long as you guys stay focused." Heyward told us, hopping off of the boat. "Parker, if you can keep Cleo and Pope from fucking around or making grandchildren, there's a box of chocolates in it for you."
"I got you, Pops!" I told him, the three of us setting off on the water.
With only minor amounts of fucking around, Pope, Cleo, and I were done with the deliveries in two hours. We came back to Poguelandia stinking rich too, since everyone was tipping with their full hearts.
Seriously, I made over one hundred dollars. That was after the three of us split it.
John B and JJ were still out, so I took it as my chance to set up JJ's Valentine's gift. We decided to not do anything too big, so I planned a date and got him two things.
First, I found a stuffed animal that was a chick in a bucket hat with a joint hanging from its mouth, which said "stoner chick". Thinking it was absolutely hilarious, I bought it for JJ. Then, as the slightly bigger gift, I went online and ordered something illegal.
JJ loved his motorcycle more than anything. However, he also loved speeding and was constantly getting fines sent to the house for being caught on speed cameras.
So, as a gift, I bought stickers that you can put over your license plate that do not cover the letters but made them undetectable on camera.
It was illegal, but so was everything else JJ loved.
I put on the stickers and placed the stoner chick on his bike seat before sending him a quick text.
Parker: Come to the front yard.
Within a minute, JJ was walking around the back, where I stood waiting for him.
"Hey, Jay." I greeted. "I got a gift for you."
He walked over to his bike, picking up the stoner chick with a smile.
"I didn't know they made you in stuffed animal form." He teased. "I love it, Parker."
"That's not all. Take your phone out." I told JJ, incredibly excited for the next gift.
JJ looked at me with a confused expression, sliding his phone out of his pocket.
"Turn on your camera and come check out your license plate." I said, stepping behind his bike.
"Okay." JJ said cautiously. He did as I said, his jaw dropping when the plate didn't show up on his phone. "No fucking way."
"I figured I'd save you a couple hundred bucks on speeding tickets." I said.
"How did you do this?" He asked.
"They make stickers for it."
JJ tackled me into a hug, pulling me as close to him as humanly possible. "God, I fucking love you."
I turned my head up, placing my lips to JJ. I loved giving gifts, and I loved making JJ happy. It was the best of both worlds.
"You're the best girlfriend, you know that?"
"Wow, calling me the best without sucking you off. That's new." I joked, JJ squeezing me with his bicep.
"I'm still not done. There's one more thing." I said, stepping away from JJ and pulling something out of the waistband of my pants.
I held the metal out in front of me, watching as JJ took it from my hands, intrigued. "My gun?"
"Look at the note on it."
JJ flipped his SIG Sauer over, where a bright pink sticky note read, It's a date!
"What are we doing?" JJ asked.
"You'll see." I said, walking away from him and heading to the Twinkie.
"I'd really like you to specify." JJ said, coming beside me. "I know you've read Haunting Adeline, and look, I'm down for whatever, but then I'd need to unload the gun."
"Keep it loaded." I told him, hopping into the Twinkie.
"The gun range?" JJ asked, looking at me with a mix of excitement and confusion.
"I figured target practice screamed hot date." I said, parking the car.
"You do know me well." JJ said, hopping out of the car like an excited child.
There was a specific reason I wanted to bring him here. I called the owners a couple of days ago and had it set up. Now, I had to hope JJ found it as funny as I did.
I traded my Valentine's headband for some noise-canceling headphones and protective goggles, which screamed sexy. JJ practically skipped around the building, thrilled that he could shoot his gun for a little bit.
I slid my name to the owner, who knew to put JJ's surprise out when we got back to the practice area.
"Are you ready?" I asked JJ as we approached our stations.
Just as we got there, the targets wheeled out. Instead of the normal man with the bullseye, there were five words written on the targets.
No Pogue on Pogue macking.
Seeing the targets, JJ bent over laughing, caught off guard. It was contagious, causing me to laugh too.
"That is amazing." JJ choked out, collecting himself and raising his gun. "There's nothing I want to shoot more."
JJ fired his gun twice, hitting the middle of the two O's in Pogue. I followed his lead, the two of us going to destroy the signs.
After it kept us apart for years, it felt good to shoot that stupid rule. I thought nothing would feel better than breaking it, but something about watching the words crumble apart filled my brain with serotonin.
Once the signs were destroyed, we did some regular target practice, JJ and I trash-talking each other the entire time. It was a perfect date for the two of us.
A gun range might not be everyone's ideal Valentine's Day, but it was ours. And I loved it that way.
I love how we are JJ and Parker.
"So, can you tell me about tonight?" I asked from the passenger seat of the Twinkie. According to JJ, I broke too many road laws on the way here, and he needed to ensure we made it back safe. I only went ten over the speed limit. It was not a big deal.
"Nope." JJ shook his head.
"Come on, I need to know what to wear."
He's got that covered? What did that mean?
Most likely, we were going to be naked the whole time.
"I need to know how to look. Do I need to do my hair or makeup?"
"You need to look exactly as you look right now." JJ said. "Except there is one thing I want you to put on."
Ah, I could see where it was going.
I had already bought something sexy to wear for JJ later. Two pairs, actually, because knowing JJ, he was going to rip the first one. He ripped a good chunk of my fancy lingerie, which I suspected was because he didn't know how to undo a bra.
The two of us pulled up to Poguelandia, agreeing that I was going to go for a quick nap since I was up early and would be a cranky toddler without one. JJ was going to wake me up when it was time to get ready, and that was all the information I got.
I walked inside the house, pausing before going upstairs when I saw Kie hovering by her phone.
"What are you doing, Kie?" I asked.
"Texting an ex-situationship to see if he wants to hook up." Kie responded, eyes still on her phone.
I felt bad that out of all our friends, she was the only single one on Valentine's Day. It must have sucked.
But not enough to text an ex-situationship.
"What? I'm going to make him buy me dinner first." She said, causing me to laugh. "He's stinking rich. I want fancy wine and a steak."
Scratch what I said before. If Kie was set on a fancy meal paid for by someone else, I was all for it. She deserved to live like that.
"Use protection." I joked, heading upstairs to take a nap.
By the time I woke up, it was dark outside. It was February, meaning that it could be anywhere between seven pm and three am.
Considering JJ hadn't woken me up, I assumed it was closer to seven pm. Rolling over to check my phone, I noticed something sitting beside me.
It wasn't JJ. It wasn't even a person. But it was big.
I smiled, looking at the large teddy bear with a red ribbon wrapped around his neck. Beside the teddy bear was a bouquet. A bouquet of books.
I picked up the bouquet, wondering how JJ got access to my TBR and was able to find the books on it. Some of them I knew weren't in the bookstores on the island, which meant he had to do some serious looking.
I love how thoughtful JJ is.
"You like it?" JJ asked, entering the room.
"JJ, I love it." I said, standing up off the bed to give him a kiss. We were very lovey today, which I didn't mind. I couldn't mind when I had a boyfriend that hacked into my TBR.
"I love you too, Turbo." He said, smiling my favorite smile. "There is one rule for the books, though. We have to recreate all the sex scenes."
"Such a hardship." I joked.
"There is one more thing." JJ said, pulling away from me to grab a small gift bag.
I was pretty sure I knew what was in it.
I opened up the bag, unraveling the tissue paper to reveal -
They were light pink, with adorable golden puppies on them. The material melted to the form of my hands, being some of the softest material I'd ever touched.
"I want you to wear those when we go out." He told me. "And I'll match you."
"We are going somewhere in PJs?" I asked.
"Fuck no." I laughed. "I don't think I've ever loved you more."
"Great. Put them on and meet me downstairs in five."
I put on the PJ pants with one of JJ's hoodies, smiling as I looked at what my boyfriend did for me. I had gotten flowers or chocolates before, but PJs, books, and a teddy bear showed JJ knew me like the back of his hand.
I headed downstairs, where JJ, who looked better in the pants than me, led me directly out the back door and out to the dock.
"Can you at least tell me if there will be food?" I asked.
"Of course there will be food. You are the devil reincarnated when you get hungry." JJ said.
He wasn't joking. It was a fair description of me when I was hungry.
I followed JJ through the charter shop and down to the dock, where the old HMS Pogue was sitting. There were blankets laid out across it, fairy lights on the bars, a brown paper bag, and a bouquet of daisies.
"Are we doing what I think we're doing?" I asked, unable to contain my excitement.
"We're going to Dipper's Discoveries." JJ said, hopping in the boat.
I thought JJ knocked it out of the park with the gifts. Then, he plans the world's best date with matching PJ pants, stargazing, and, as he said before, no need to be anxious.
"This is perfect, JJ." I said, wandering over to the blankets and picking up the flowers as he started up the boat.
"I told you I had it handled." JJ said. "The brown bag has burgers from The Wreck. There's a cooler full of beers back here and a wireless heater in case it gets cold."
My jaw was on the ground. I had no idea how JJ pulled this off, but he did.
I love how well he knows me.
I love that I don't need to be anyone else around him.
"Who are you and what did you do with JJ?" I joked, coming up to him.
"I have many sides, Parker." JJ said. "But I'm going to be honest; I had some help."
"You're not going to believe it."
"Unless it's my brother, I'll believe it." I said, watching as JJ started to smile.
John B, my brother who hates that I am with his best friend, helped JJ set up a date for me? Not only that, but a date where JJ was going to get laid?
"There's no way." I refused to believe John B was in on this.
"He picked up the burgers before taking Sarah out." JJ said.
For a split second I wondered if I was dreaming. There was no way everything could have been this perfect.
But it was. I was a lucky girl.
