run you clever girl

i. july evenings and i’m catching fireflies in glass jars like constellations in motion. we let them go eventually, but i’ll never forget how it feels to have a thousand tiny hearts twinkling at our fingertips, a thousand little stars we’ll never get to hold.   ii. some day i’d like to lay on my back in the sistine chapel with you, two beings beneath an unearthly ceiling, trying to remember how to be holy. yours, i’m sure, is the type of beauty michelangelo tried to capture in his careful brushstrokes.   iii. someone told me once that mortality is just practice for when we become angels. something weightless, something too lovely for this universe.
