"Tactile Textile Light Surface"
Clara Bertness, Ryan Mather, Lux Factor Studio 2013
This surface-system reimagines conventional wall space. The use of a textile membrane allows for playful and accidental interaction between human and environment. To emphasize this interaction, we integrated the use of a photo-luminescent dye developed by Performance Indicator (the cool blue glow.)
Through perforation of a wall textile which is illuminated from behind by the photo-luminescent material, we were able to create a surface which glows more brightly when a person touches it. The quality of the light is both soothing and welcoming. It was designed to supplement a low-light corridor in the Solar Decathlon Europe entry, Techstyle Haus.Â
