The year just past really challenged me to start taking some personal responsibility for the state of my life. I realised just how much of a big difference there is between knowing something and actually putting it into practice. Taking sometime to disconnect in order to reconnect. While I love sharing on social media I think it borders on addiction for me. I hate that the first thing that I do when I wake up in the morning is scroll through Instagram and Facebook. I also have to admit that overtime I have started to connect my sense of worth to the likes I receive and to me that is a scary space to fall into. So I'm having a self imposed intervention and taking a timeout from my social media. Time to stop looking for photo opportunities and just appreciate the beauty of the moment. Time to really focus on what matters rather than zoning out in news feeds. Redirecting my time to more soul nourishing endeavors because in the end you never really know how much time you have. â
There can be no light without darkness. There will be times when life will bring you to your knees. Things will fall apart and you will be thrown into despair. The darkness and depth of the human experience become inescapable. From this place the choice to fight with your pain will only result in prolonged suffering. We must surrender to what is and allow emotions to flow through us, knowing that things will come together and fall back apart many times in our journey. So while there will be hard times in life that may seem relentless and crippling we must keep putting one foot in front of the other as we never know when something beautiful is about to break through into our lives.  Whilst I almost died of hypothermia I had the most amazing time bringing Rifts to life, the amazing project by Andrew Li. There are days where the pain hits me so hard I could almost choke on it. A song will come on the radio that reminds me of my dad and Iâm gone â tears are immediately rolling down my face, I can hardly breathe and I find myself doing that loud childlike crying.
