I have recently been put on indefinite leave at work due to the fact that I voluntarily committed myself for feeling suicidal

I am diagnosed with a mood dissorder it’s hard for me to function with normal things like even bathing sometimes, when I’m in the workplace I can go a solid 5 months or so and then breakdown completely

This is the 3rd time I have been hospitalized for work stress the other two were involuntary and this has happened for two years straight with the leaves usually lasting 3-5 months total

I am so genuinely sick of some of the shit pulled here and i want it to fucking cease, so im cataloguing all the issues that this fucking fandom has. alot of these will be central issues while some are honestly my personal gripes (you dont have to listen to those parts, however hear me out on them)

PART 1: ANTISEMITISM

please, PLEASE start fucking listening to jewish voices within the community and realizing that coloring benry and bubby bright blue is not ok. the problems with this have started to reside, a lot more with bubby, but the issue is still very much there. Why are these traits bad, you may ask? well to start off, in benreys case, depicting the main villain of the series as having very stereotyped Jewish features (I'm talkin shit like the blue skin and hooked nose) comes off as antisemitic. the issue on bubbies end extends worse, as not only is he portrayed in the fandom as one of the more evil characters (he isn’t, he really fucking isn’t. he was apart of the betrayal, was forgiven by Gordon, and actively helped him to defeat benrey) but the original model for bubby is a very clearly Jewish coded man, having the last name kleiner. please realize depicting someone whos based from a Jewish character as a antisemitic villain is not fucking good. if you need a list of what to look out for, traits of antisemitism include:

sharp teeth

horns/horned and spiky hair

hooked/really pointy noses (a pointyish nose is fine but don’t give bubby a fucking Pinocchio nose)

blue/green/generally inhuman skin tones

claws

tails

animalistic features

CERTAIN traits isolated on their own might be fine (like just having spiky hair, or just having sharp teeth, not big fucking traits like blue skin or a tail or something.) HOWEVER if someone Jewish tells you that what you have going on is antisemitic looking PLEASE just swallow your pride and listen, apologize and fix the issue.  also I ask that you check out the tube, created by @/jewishsunkist (hope I got your url right !!) which not only gives a crash course in how to portray bubby right + resources on learning how to not be antisemitic in depth, but they also provide many examples of bubby designs that aren’t antisemitic to give you ideas on how to fix your design.   the tube mostly applies to bubby, but smaller aspects can also be applied benrey designs (blue skin, hooked nose)

ah! speaking of benrey, that side tangent. PLEASE dont depict him as a predatory gay man stereotype. I don’t see this too often, which is why it doesn’t have its own section, but it is still an issue that arises from time to time. if you ship frenrey good for you! don’t make benrey weird tho. 

PART 2: RACISM

This mainly applies to Gordon, but lies within tommy as well.

it is very apparent that Gordon is portrayed as a person of color the most within the hlvrai cast. that’s fine! inserting representation within a cast of models that are almost entirely white (exclude darnold of course) is a good thing! however, issue lies when he is the only one depicted as a brown man, and more so when he is depicted as very angry all the time. lets get something straight: Gordon is not an angry man. genuinely the only time i can recall him being unnecessarily mad or rude is within act one when he yelled at benry that one single time about passports, the one followed by Gordon pulling out the spawner gun, most every other time is Gordon (especially in act 3, when Wayne was in the middle of a panic attack) being stressed, or if he does freak out will immediately bounce back laughing. this dude took a moment to try and wipe alien blood off of bubby, he takes the time to respond to coomer whenever he says “Hello Gordon!”, even when interacting with the character he’s shown to hate most in canon (benrey), he’s still in a laughing fit with the guy. depicting him as only angry, and the only person of color is real fuckin sus. its just blatantly bad if you depict Gordon being angry and attacking a white depicted benrey. please just, if you depict Gordon as the only poc in the main 5, ask yourself why? why don’t you depict others as poc? 

as for tommy, hey uh! dont fucking depict him as having literal yellow skin. tommy is played by rtvs member baaulp, who is an Asian man. yellow skin is a racist caricature of Asian people, along side other things like small squinted eyes, and fucked up teeth (most commonly large buck teeth) PLEASE just dont fucking put tommy in yellowface, please. 

PART 3: NSFW WITHIN THE COMMUNITY

yall can be horny for shit! that’s fine! the issue is when you’re horny for something the creator has actively stated that they feel uncomfortable seeing nsfw of. Wayne stating that he “cant stop you” is NOT a go ahead for you to create nsfw of hlvrai. it means in its literal terms, that he cant stop you. it doesn’t mean he wants it or wants to see it. please respect the wishes of him and the crew, and just go be horny for half life Gordon or something. I don’t wanna scroll through ao3 and see a fic about the HEV suit milking Gordon or a fic named “piss diaries” (did I mention how much I don’t like ao3 sometimes)

PART 4: TREATMENT TOWARDS THE CAST

THE CREATORS OF HLVRAI ARE REAL PEOPLE, DONT BE FUCKING WEIRD TO THEM. Recently scorpy made a joke on twitter involving the mention of hlvrai 2, it was CLEARLY a joke, however a fan took it a bit too far and continuously asked scorpy rancid fucking questions. DONT DO THIS PLEASE! you don’t fucking know the dude, joke or not don’t ask that shit. RESPECT THE CREWS PRIVACY. YOU are not entitled to know everything about them, they have their own lives. you can support the crew without being weird. DONT FUCKING SHIP THE CREW MEMBERS BTW! a few weeks back holly got an anonymous ask stating that they “ship holly and scorpy”. Shipping youtubers, internet influencers, streamers, anybody with a large influence is not fucking ok. (also not to mention that holly is a lesbian) just. these are real people, not just a voice on a stream that says funny words. 

PART 5: INTERNAL ISSUES 

Yall wanna stop shitting on people for liking a character? comparing them to onceler or sans because what, they’re popular and have a lot of aus? also! hey can yall treat mothra (@/year2000electronics) with some respect? they created possibly the most well known impactful au to the fandom, y2kvr which had a compelling story, and introduced the concept of pre drawn sprite ask blogs to the community. because of one ask asking permission to make a spinoff of y2kvr, the tag here on tumblr became flooded with spinoff after spinoff, without asking permission from mothra. its sad that they had to make a statement for people to not do that with hlvrv. its also sad how people treat mothra, I’ve seen multiple posts accusing them of causing the fandom to be bad, or shit like “if they’re making another fucking au I’m gonna go mental” like hey! shut the fuck up! they are entitled to create aus, its not their fault that things snowballed. 

hey stop tagging hlvrai posts as half life, its really annoying for half life fans who aren’t fans of hlvrai to keep seeing the silly guard ask for passports. its really simple.

PART 6: CONCLUSION

PLEASE. START TO LEARN BOUNDARIES OF WHAT YOU CAN DO. don’t be racist, listen to minority voices, don’t be fucking dickheads, respect wishes PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE.

Bonus part 7: personal gripes

a lot of people know of the gordoncubed au, and I have respect for it! the creator puts in a lot of genuine effort, and the 1 character that I have a gripe with is portrayed with grace. 

but I will still be generally addressing him, along side gorgeous freeman.

just like. please be aware that these two come from genuinely problematic series, one riddled with homophobia, ableism, light racism, fatphobia, and a stigma against psychosis and Autism. and the other from a series that has a lot of gay predatory stereotypes, as well as an out of nowhere 20 second sexual assault scene that is played for jokes. this post details my gripes more, but just. just be aware please? 

Stop infantilizing tommy. he is a 37 year old, autistic coded man. literally the only “childish” things are the pinwheel cap and like. that’s it. please, its fucking weird.
