I am so baffled by the people who don't like Paralives art style. I understand having different tastes and not liking it leans on the cartoony more than the realism, but saying it makes it unplayable is ridiculous.
I've seen a couple of save file ideas going around already! So, here are my two cents on my ideas!
So, first off I want a save utilizing the empty "town" option, the blank canvas as you will, where I can just build and test out features, maybe even upload some houses I really like to the Steam Workshop (?) I'mma call this my "Builder Save" even though I'm probably also gonna use it as a storage grounds for new npc Paras I want.
The next save is more important to anyone looking at this. This save will be the legacy save I'm going to stream on Twitch and post VODs of on YT. I want this save to start off with a Pair O' Paras (get it?) named Kendra and Paul Anaya.
Their surname is symbolic, you see. Because, while it has disputed origin, the one I found most fascinating was it being descended from Arabic meaning "stagnant water." This is symbolic because Kendra as a name means "clear water." I picked the name Kendra before I picked the surname Anaya.
(Paul's original surname is Smith btw, he changed it to his wife's when they married because they didn't want any children to have a boring surname.)
Their backstory is that they met and married in New Angeles (totally not a Walmart version of NYC nor LA), a large metropolis where they just couldnt see themselves for the rest of their lives. So, they acquired a Visa and moved to Melino. (Yes I'm glossing over the fact neither will be employed so it's unlikely they'd get a Visa at all, but shhhhhhh)
From there, I want them to have at least 2 kids, ideally more. This is so I can start branch families to rotate between. I want at least one kid from each child, but from there I have no plans and you'll just have to see on Stream~

This might be a bad idea, but I think I want to become a Paratuber. I've had the itch to be a content creator in a video game space for years but I've never felt confident enough to make the plunge into a very established community like Minecraft or the Sims franchise. So, I think my best shot would be to start with Paralives and maybe branch out(??) Idk, just a thought that has been nagging me for a while. If anyone would be interested in watching my gameplay lmk!
OKAY! Here we are again! I once again got struck with the Paralives appreciation bug (or more accurately it never left) so more excitement below the cut!
This time we're focusing on the build mode! There will be free wall placement with an optional grid that can move to be oriented with a wall youβve already placed, meaning you can create houses on a diagonal without needing to do weird wall shenanigans! Additionally, curved walls are supported and very very flexible.
There will also be terrain tools at launch, including pushing and pulling terrain with 3D grass!! Can you believe that??? 3 D G R A S S !!! I am excited to see it! The videos weβve been shown are extremely beautiful. The little wall jumps and their sound when placed scratch an itch in my brain I didnβt know I had. The ui click sounds does the same thing!
Also, we will have the ability to stretch and resize objects. This makes it so less pieces are necessary in the catalog in order to have more customization, also saving on ram usage. Some of the build mode photos are extremely cool as well! I hope to make a courtyard house as seen in traditional Chinese architecture when it comes out. There will probably be the ability to make granny flats (or houses on someone elseβs property that are rented out) via redoing lot boundaries so there is a smaller property inside another. Very very cool!
There is also the future build a world tool that will be coming out during early access. This will make it easier for players to have, say, a medieval world that has no trace of modern elements.
Also gonna take a moment to appreciate the beautiful lighting all over paralives. It is so gorgeous!! ALSO ALSO here are some videos going over the build tools of paralives.

ALSO ALSO ALSO I want to take a moment to appreciate the music in build mode (playlist to soundtrack here) as it is so gorgeous and cozy and beautiful. I keep saying this game is beautiful, and I'm going to keep saying it because it is! Both in its artstyle and its message. Paralives promises to never have paid DLC and that means so much to me. I love the build mode here even though I'm not a good builder elsewhere. Build mode was the first thing we saw of Paralives, and it was the first thing worked on. This makes it hold a special place in my heart's Paralives chamber. Love and Appreciation for the whole team every day of the week.
OKAY! I am far too excited right now for Paralives. I was trying to make my Navigation Page into this essay because of how excited I was. So, in order to keep this blog at least mildly organized, I am writing all my appreciations and excitements under the cut here.
I'm going to start with my excitement over the Paramaker, or PAM. The Para's art direction is so beautiful and detailed and cartoony in all the right ways and looks like how those "Thonky aesthetic keyboards" sound. I am in awe of it. I need to meet every Paralives artist right now and ask them for a hug because of how gorgeous they made the Paras.

Just from what we have seen, there is already a good variety of hairstyles. There are both straight hairs and textured hairs, wavy and curly. The roadmap says they'll be adding more throughout Early Access, likely based on what players say they need more of. Additionally, the clothing options are top tier! DID YOU SEE THAT MUSHROOM HAT?! DID YOU SEE THAT COLOR WHEEL??? I was never much of a TS3 player, though I've been using it occasionally to ween myself off the Sims 4 in preparation for Paralives, so I never really got to have a color before! For anything except cats and dogs and horses! (which btw why???) anyways!
Moving onto bodies. The tattoo placement tool is so so cool, and really will allows for more unique sleeves and one-off tattoos for paras. Maybe twins each get the same tattoo but place it in different locations. Maybe a mother and son get different but complementary tattoos in the same location? Tattoos show a life on the skin, and Paralives is giving us that! There will also be a height slider at launch. A Height Slider!!! This is huge! Siblings can be different heights!! Parents can be different heights from their children! This is incredibly cool.

But the genetics system is quite advanced and that makes my science-lover heart very happy! There will be dominant and recessive traits for the colors of eyes and hair, and the sliders for a feature (like the nose) will come from one parent or another, so we donβt end up with chinless monstrosities like in ts4. Speaking of sliders, Paralives cannot use the push and pull technology of ts4 (because EA put a patent on it) so they use sliders like ts3.
My only complaint is that the skin details as far as we know can only be used one at a time, but perhaps that will be changed during Early Access.
