Some tips and tricks I’ve seen on Tumblr, on Pinterest or have learned the hard way while writing. These are pretty basic but sometimes basic is good!

Realizing they can feel the person touching them. Maybe they’re not touching but they can feel the warmth.

Accidentally saying something flirty and both of you freeze. Or saying something flirty and the other person panicking and running away

Eyes dropping to lips. Eyes looking them up and down. Eyes unable to look away. Eyes unable to make contact without blushing. Eyes are you best friend.

Mirroring. When people have crushes or like someone (or want someone to like them) they do what is called mirroring. If character 1 crosses their arms and character 2 has a crush on them, have character 2 cross their arms too.

New Girl taught me about toes. If their feet are facing you, they want to stay. If their feet are pointed away, they want to leave. I’ve found its not always true but its something you can mention or use.

Unable to stop smiling. Unable to stop laughing.

Touching the other one when you laugh. Touching them to move them out of the way. Touching them and not moving your hand away

Hugging them when you see them. Sharing a bed. Trying to be near them at all moments.

Looking at their lips and fantasizing about kissing them.

It doesn't matter if all you did was day-dream about your characters while staring at the ceiling.

The Creeps Admiring Their S/O While She Sleeps

Toby thinks you’re at your absolute cutest when you’re asleep. There’s something about how relaxed you look that just melts him, and he’ll catch himself staring way longer than he means to. If you’re cuddled up against him, he’s in Heaven - his hand automatically finding your hair, gently playing with it while he presses soft kisses to your forehead or cheek. Sometimes he sways a little without thinking, like he’s soothing both of you at once. It’s one of the only times his tics really calm down, and for once, everything feels quiet and okay.

Tim loves coming home to find you already asleep, it’s like the stress of the whole day just drops off his shoulders. He’ll stand there for a second, just taking you in before moving closer, brushing your hair out of your face and pressing a soft kiss to your forehead. He’ll mumble something sweet and a little teasing, like calling you his sleepy princess, before fixing your blanket so you’re actually covered properly. He always makes sure you’re comfortable before settling in.

Brian gets surprisingly careful when you’re asleep, like he’s afraid even breathing too loud might wake you. He’ll slip into bed beside you quietly, pretending to scroll on his phone, but really he’s watching you more than anything else. Every now and then he’ll reach out, brushing his fingers over your cheek or your hair, and when you make those little sleepy noises and move closer to him, he swears his heart stops for a second. He has way more pictures of you sleeping than he’ll ever admit, and he always looks at them when he’s alone.

Ben doesn’t always notice right away when you fall asleep, but the second he does, his whole mood softens. He’ll spin around in his chair and just grin at you for a bit, taking in how you’re all curled up and cozy in bed. Then he’ll get up and slide in next to you, wrapping an arm around you and pressing a quick kiss to your cheek. When you snuggle into him and mumble something half-asleep, he just laughs quietly and holds you closer. He’s also the type to plug your phone in, grab you some water, maybe leave a snack nearby - just little things so you’re taken care of when you wake up.

Jeff keeps an eye on you when you’re asleep. He’ll glance over, linger a little, then act like he wasn’t just staring. If you’ve kicked your blanket off, he might toss his hoodie over you instead, muttering something under his breath. And if you’re too still, he’ll pause for a second, watching to make sure you’re breathing - a habit he hates but can't seem to stop. When he lies down next to you, he keeps some space at first, but sooner or later his arm ends up around your waist, and if you curl into him, he just lets it happen.
