“It is nice to sit down and relax every once in a while,” Lu Xun nodded, wrapping his arms around himself to retain more warmth from the fire. “I wish I was able to rest more often, though under different circumstances.” 

Ling Tong laughs, “well, I don’t really want people to know I almost gave our Commander frostbite, so your secret is safe with me.”

As Zhang Liao stormed his garrison after Han Dang’s troops fallen as well as him? .. He did took a beating but at least it was a fight that he won’t forget.. Few cuts won’t kill the veteran that easily…

     Ling Tong grimaces at the mention of Zhang Liao. “Tell me about it, I’ve got a few new scars I’ve gotta pay him back for.” A hand reflexively reaches up to rub his arm, where a not-quite-healed wound was still hidden under his clothing and a layer of bandages.

Had Ling Tong not intervened, he certainly would’ve collapsed to the floor. Gripping the man’s sleeve, Lu Xun endured the wave of pain with a groan, shaking his head in response to the question. No, he could tough it out - he had to, didn’t he? 

“Yeah, of course.” Ling Tong tries - and fails - to keep the concern out of his voice, “but you need to get some rest for now.” He gently pushes Lu Xun down onto the bed, not really giving the injured strategist a say in the matter.

Now dressed in simple clothes, Lu Xun ran the damaged fabric between his fingers, pouting slightly before setting them aside. Despite the hazards, he could never part with his trademark coat-tails. Outside the tent, he met Ling Tong’s attempts to re-light the fire pit. He could’ve sworn that he extinguished those flames; still, this seemed more ideal than the blanket predicament.

Ling Tong snickers to himself, barely biting back a comment about how humble the window at the front of Lu Xun’s clothes is. 

“Most, if not all, tents are stocked with extra clothes, this should be no issue,” Lu Xun noted, slowly climbing off the bed. Reaching behind him, he frowned as his fingers met the now-damp remains of the coattails. He’d worry about the replacement later, the idea of the fire appealing to him.
