The Benefit of Wisdom

[3: “Cry out for insight and ask for understanding; search for them as you would silver.” ]

The Lord grants wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding:

- grants common sense to the honest

- is a shield to those who walk with integrity

- guards the paths of the just

- protects those who are faithful

Wisdom saves us from evil people.

- saves us from immoral women; the man who visits her is doomed. 

The Purpose of Proverbs

- to teach wisdom, discipline, and help us understand the insight of the wise.

- to teach people to live disciplined and successful lives; to do what is right & fair.

- gives insight to the simple, knowledge & discernment to the young

- encourages us to hear our father’s advice and our mother’s instruction

Through Proverbs, the wise become wiser: fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom. 

Wisdom shouts in the streets, [23: ‘’Come listen to my counsel. I’ll share my heart with you and make you wise.” ]

-- when we choose to ignore God, he allows troubles to befall us.
