and i'm obsessed so obvious i checked out the article because A) i don't know shit about st. augustine and B) sex article connected to sexy show. could be good.

so i learn that st. augustine got a boner or something at the public showers (oop that's familiar) while he was with his dad (nevermind). his dad was stoked, because maybe grandkids soon! but augustine's mom loved jesus and thought he was nasty for having sexual desires and drove a wedge between augustine and his papa.

so as you may of guessed, considering the "st" at the beginning of his name, augustine got real into jesus too. and he wrote about his lustful youth and his way of thinking (arousal is sin, no sex unless for baby, etc) became The Way of Thinking About Sex for christian's until this day.

and now i need a fic about david's pov of his convo with ilya. the actual dialogue does not have to be about this article he read, but i think this would be really interesting information to have on your brain while grappling with your son's taboo gay relationship with his rival in a very socially conservative sport. especially with ilya being the catalyst for this line of thinking- he brought up the term "lovers" (potentially unaware of the english connotation of that word) and then asks about what he's read in the new yorker recently. and so david has an internal narrative grappling with his son's sexuality and sexual history and the moralization surrounding it. and also they're making spaghetti.
