THE OTHER BENNET SISTER (2026)
1st Proposal Attempt | The Other Bennet Sister (2026)
In the The Other Bennet Sister, Dónal Finn's character, Tom Hayward, is in a boat on a lake trying to tell the person he's with that he loves them.
In SAS Rogue Heroes, Dónal Finn's character, Eoin Mcgonigal, is in a boat on a lake trying to tell the person he's with that he loves them.
So … in Young Sherlock, will we get a scene where Dónal Finn's character, James Moriarty, is in a boat on a lake trying to tell the person he's with that he loves them?
Asking for a friend. Me. I'm the friend.
getting scambot messages from random accounts that clearly used to be normal active blogs is sad enough. you know that there used to be a real person on that blog until they were tricked into handing their password to the digital fae.
but it's an entirely new level of tragic when somebody you've actually spoken to gets turned into a bot account. it's like peeking at a zombie apocalypse through the window and realizing one of the shambling corpses was your friend.
and then the zombie catches sight of you, lurches up to your window, and shouts through the glass that they accidentally reported your account to tumblr and you'll be deactivated unless you click this link.
RIP to the blog that used to DM me to tell me they liked my new chapters. Their last known words spoken before being turned, 17 hours ago: "Ggs!" They were praising someone's deadlift.
the message they tried to get me with is probably the same message that got them, so for anybody who hasn't already been warned about the signs of a zombie account:
if you get something like this ↑ they're gonna follow up by instructing you to contact tumblr support on discord and give you contact info; or they're gonna link a website that looks sort of like tumblr support and say you have to email them; or any variety of "you must now contact tumblr, here is how you contact tumblr."
whatever they send you, it Does Not lead to tumblr. it leads to the master zombie that bit them and inducted them into the ranks of the undead, and will bite you the second they have your email and password. i might be confusing zombies and vampires. anyway,
it's easier to fall for these messages because the blog doesn't LOOK like a bot blog, because it ISN'T a bot blog. it's a normal person's blog that got accessed by a bot, meaning the blog's content CLEARLY looks like a real active user when you click on it. and yes—it might even be a blog you already know. sometimes bots like this go down a blog's DMs or reblogs and message people they've previously interacted with.
they got one of my treasured followers, and they can get you too. don't fall for their tricks. know the signs.

The Other Bennet Sister 01x10 - Requested by @kooks71
Just had someone comment on one of my posts that they "had to urgently speak to me" but they couldn't message me because they kept getting an error.
BLOCK.
I think you can absolutely still have hope while acknowledging we are in multiple forms of collapse. You can be hopeful you’ll get a job. You can be hopeful solutions will arise. You can be hopeful you’ll make friends. You can be hopeful that there are people who care for the world amidst the world being beat and bruised.
You’re allowed to care even though lots of things are going bad. Some things can’t be fixed or saved. But it’s okay to hold onto hope for something good to happen tomorrow. Good things are always going to pop up like flowers in war zones.
“The world is not on fire, there are just lots of fires.” Don’t lose hope that some fires can be put out. So much is still easy. Build a safe zone within the flames, and persist putting them out. Accepting we are in a bad place does not equal rolling over to let it get worse. No matter how bad things will get, you can still put out flames in different spaces.
You can give yourself the freedom of acknowledging life right now is in a state of unrest and we don’t know when the chapter will close, while also being happy we are here with other people and things that make it worth it. Because it is worth it. All hard things are worth it.
Allow yourself gentle mercies that will keep you alive.

Never think your kudos or comment doesn't matter to the writer of the fic you enjoyed on AO3. When I got this notification yesterday, it was like getting a birthday gift, for me anyway. This fic is 6 years old and honestly I haven't been able to write anything new in 6 years for reasons I'd rather not go into. It hurts too much. But this, this … it told me someone liked something I wrote. 🥹

BETTER PETS, my new picture book collab with Leigh Bardugo, is out NOW! (Well, technically it's been out for a week, but I've been on tour and haven't had a chance to post about it here!)

For me, the P&P adaptation I love the most is the 2005 one not so much for Darcy but because of the Bennet family. From the start as we follow Lizzie into their home, we see it's a bit disbelieved, it looks lived in; the family dog is wandering around as we see Kitty and Lydia fighting over ribbons or whatever that belong to Jane, while Mary is practicing the piano, and Lizzie pays them no mind as she is deeply engrossed in her book.
Then there are Mr. and Mrs. Bennet who—far from being detached, uncaring, demanding—are in their own way loving towards one another and to their daughters.
Take for example the scene where Mary is crying because she had practiced her piano piece all week only to be ridiculed by a few vapid girls at the ball. It's Mr. Bennet holding and comforting the crying Mary as any loving father would. Another scene that comes to mind is the one where Lizzie tells her father she wants to marry Mr. Darcy and he gets all emotional and says “I could not have parted with you, my Lizzie, to anyone less worthy.” There's also that scene where he tells Kitty that it's out of the question when she asks if she could visit and stay with Lydia and Wickham.
Mrs. Bennet, too, shows motherly affection for her daughters and seems to have a loving relationship with them. The one scene that encapsulates that is the one where a married Lydia is seen getting into the carriage to drive off with Wickham as Mrs. Bennet watches from the window. Although she is glad Lydia is at least married, she says, "There's nothing so bad as parting with one's children. One seems so forlorn without them." The scene is made all the more tender when Lizzie hugs her mother to comfort her.
This version of P&P feels more complete to me simply because it's not just focused on Lizzie and Darcy, Jane and Bingham, or even Lydia and Wickham. It fleshes out the other characters and they interact in a way that is familiar and relatable. Even clueless Mr. Collins or the imperious Lady Catherine aren't so bad.
The scenery, the costumes, the furnishings, the music are all so beautiful and comforting. It's a world I wouldn't mind stepping into and visiting for the day.

Our happiness is in our own hands. - May 2026
Mary Bennet and her cute husband. I loved The Other Bennet Sister, it fixed something in me I didn't even know it needed fixing. My only regret is that it took me too long to finish this portrait; the faces are okay, but the clothes look faded and too bright for the background, even though I spent ages trying to fix them. Oh, well...

"“I believe a stronger sense of empathy would tilt the balance of our current politics in favor of those people who are struggling in this society. After all if they are like us, then their struggles are our own. If we fail to help we diminish ourselves.”
