One-Handed Swords:

Iron Dagger:

A plain dagger made of iron. Good for wannabe rogues. Deals 1d4 damage. 10ft throwing range.

Iron Shortsword:

A plain shortsword made of iron. Someday you'll be a true knight. Deals 1d6 damage.

Two-Handed Swords:

Iron Greatsword:

A plain greatsword made of iron. Pick a god and pray. Deals 2d6 damage.

One-Handed Axes:

Iron Handaxe:

A plain handaxe made of iron. Good job, Dorcas. Deals 1d6 damage.

Two-Handed Axes:

Iron Battleaxe:

A plain battleaxe made of iron. A young Flametail once took up such a weapon. Deals 2d6 damage.

One-Handed Maces:

Wooden Club:

A plain mace made of iron-- wait, it's made of wood?! Deals 1d6 damage.

Two-Handed Maces:

Iron Mace:

Okay, here's the plain mace made of iron. It has spikes, too. Deals 2d6 damage.

Firearms:

Simple Pistol:

A steel barrel that will eventually rust in time. Deals 1d8 damage. 50ft range

Crossbows:

Simple Crossbow:

A rather simple weapon that dedicated archers scorn for being "too easy" to use. Deals 1d8 damage. 80ft range

Bows:

Simple Longbow:

The straight and arrow path is not an easy one to follow in a day with firearms. Deals 1d8 damage. 100ft range

Polearms:

Iron Spear:

A simple spear made of iron. Good for spearing seacats -- just remember to retrieve your weapon before they swim away. Deals 1d8 damage.

Staves:

Simple Staff:

A simple staff made of wood. That's it. Deals 1d8 damage.

Shields:

Iron Shield:

Turns:

Agility+Any miscellaneous Initiative modifiers=Initiative.

If two people have the same Initiative modifier, whoever has the higher Agility value goes first. If their Agility scores are identical, then both will roll a d20 to determine turn order with the higher roll going first.

In some circumstances, the GM may grant bonuses or impose penalties on Initiative (such as having the first person to notice the enemies receive a +5 bonus).

Actions:

In a given combat turn, you may make a Standard Action and a Movement Action. Generally speaking, anything that requires a roll will count as either of these actions. A Standard Action is a typical action you may make in combat -- attacking, casting a spell, and so on. Movement Action is simply moving within your character's "speed" (which is how many feet your character can move in a given turn). If you so choose, you may make two Movement Actions instead of a Standard Action and a Movement Action. However, you may not make two Standard Actions in place of a Standard Action and a Movement Action unless you are using a specific ability that allows for it.

In some situations, you may only be allowed to make one action. Choose wisely!

d20s are used for all skill checks in Chrono Stars, and the difficulty of the action you're performing determines what you need to roll in order to succeed. For example, something of average difficulty might require a roll of 10 or more to succeed. However, if you are particularly skilled at what you're attempting, you may get to roll more than one d20 to see if you succeed or not.

Your skill's entire value (ranks+any other miscellaneous modifiers) determines how many times you can roll a d20 to see if you succeed at the skill check. The stat attached to the skill (e.g. Strength for Jump, Swim, and Climb) determines the maximum amount of times you may roll.

For example, a character with a 5 in Stealth but a 3 in Agility could roll a Stealth check a maximum of 3 times even though they have a 5 in Stealth.

Sometimes you may end up in a situation where you need to roll to see if you succeed at something, but what you're trying to do isn't covered by a particular skill. In this case, the gamemaster will tell you to make a stat check, such as a Strength check for trying to break down a door. In this case, your stat score is how many times you can roll a d20 to see if you succeed.

Base Stats:

Class Skills:

Scouts begin with +1 in the following: Escape Artist, Knowledge: Local, Manipulate Device, Open Lock, Stealth

Baseline Perks:

Cheat Death: Once per encounter, you may avoid an attack that would take you down to 0 hit points or fewer and automatically vanish from sight, as if using Stealth.

Nimble: When wearing light armor, you may use your Agility score instead of your Strength score for melee attacks and Climb and Jump checks.

At level 1, a scout may choose 3 of the following 5 abilities:

Ambush: If a target is unaware of your presence or is otherwise unsuspecting that you may attack them, you deal an additional 1d6+level damage against them.

Reconaissance: When alone, you move 1.5x faster than your usual speed and have an additional +3 to all Stealth checks.

On-Guard: You add your level to all Initiative checks.

Dagger and Bow: You gain an additional skill point for a one-handed melee weapon or a ranged weapon of your choosing at every level (including level 1).

Base Stats:

Armor: 3 Resistance: 4 Evasion: 3 Hit Points: d6

Class Skills:

Orators begin with +1 in the following: Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, Knowledge: Local, Knowledge: Politics

Baseline Perks:

Persuasive: You gain a +2 bonus to all Diplomacy and Intimidate checks.

Regalia: You may conceal light armor beneath ceremonial or non-combat clothing. If your armor is concealed and if your weapons are sheathed, you have an additional +2 Charisma.

At level 1, an orator may choose 3 of the following 5 abilities:

Spokesperson: May use Diplomacy to improve someone’s opinion of something other than themselves.

Subtext: May use a Diplomacy check to see if the subject is lying or may have other motives behind what they're saying or doing. If the subject is lying, the orator's Subtext roll must exceed the subject's Bluff check.

Forbid: Coldly demand that an action not be taken. With a successful Intimidate roll, the Orator may prevent an ally or enemy from taking a certain kind of action, such as moving or attacking. This persists for rounds equal to the orator's level.

Taunt: Goad an opponent into incautious action. A successful check results in a chosen enemy losing their Evasion rating, but they will gain 3 additional damage to their damage rolls and will often target the orator in particular. This persist for rounds equal to the orator's Charisma score.

Base Stats:

Armor: 5 Resistance: 4 Evasion: 1 Hit Points: d12

Class Skills:

Crusaders begin with +1 in all the following: Diplomacy, Heal, Intimidate, Knowledge: History, Knowledge: Religion

Baseline Perks:

Ironguard: When wearing heavy armor, crusaders automatically add their level to their Resistance.

War Banner: Crusaders have a banner unique to their religion or cause that they may magically summon once per encounter. This banner has 6+Crusader's Charisma Score hit points and can be destroyed, negating its effects for the remainder of the battle.

By throwing down this banner, they impose an effect specific to the type of ideology they adhere to. This banner will remain active for the remainder of the encounter unless it is destroyed or if the crusader chooses to remove it. Choose a banner closest to what fits your crusader's god or ideology.

Banner of Skulls: This banner of terror strikes fear into the crusader's enemies, reducing their Resistance by 2.

Banner of Mockery: This taunting banner enrages foes into lowering their guard, reducing their Armor by 2.

Banner of Inspiration: This banner of courage inspires the crusader's allies, increasing their physical damage dealt by 2.

Banner of Magic: This banner pulses with a magical aura, increasing all allies' magical damage by 2.

Banner of Restoration: This banner emits a soothing glow, healing a randomly selected ally for 1d3 every round.

Banner of Peace: This banner of peace makes foes hesitant to attack, reducing their damage dealt by 2.

At level 1, a crusader may choose 3 of the following 5 abilities:

Consecrate: The area within a 10 ft radius of you is touched by your god’s benevolent blessing. All allies within this area gain your level to all damage done. The radius is increased by an additional foot per Charisma score and persists for as many rounds equal to the crusader's level.

Desecrate: The area within a 10 ft radius of you is touched by your god’s condemning hand. All enemies within this area take unavoidable damage equal to your level per round they are in the desecrated area. The radius is increased by an additional foot per Charisma score and persists for as many rounds equal to the crusader's level.

Zealous Rage: On successful melee attacks, restore hit points equal to half your damage dealt (rounded down, minimum +1).

Justified: You may add half your Charisma score (rounded down, minimum +1) to your melee damage rolls.
