I have a problem with this. My father, brother, and boyfriend were one of those “brutal, violent, American soldiers”. My father came home with PTSD fighting for his country. Do you think he wanted to do stuff like this? Do you think he was mindless, do you think he didn’t cry every night when he came home over the things he saw? You can be mad at our country, or even our government officials for making the commands but don’t be ignorant and disrespectful to the men and women who have a job – even if it is to listen to those in high upstanding political ranks. First, let me establish that I don’t have an ounce of sympathy for you or your brutal and violent father, brother or boyfriend. There’s absolutely NO justification for joining an imperialist, genocidal military. Oh right, he cried over the things he saw when he was able to come home. Guess what? The disgusting military you support invaded an entire country - home to millions - and totally terrorized its civilians and left it worse off than it ever was. So your father was able to go home, right? But not after he helped and contributed to the destruction of the lives and homes of many. Which, by the way, that invasion was illegal and against the will of the Iraqis but that didn’t stop the warmongering American military, did it? Ah but yes, the lives of those backwards, terrorist Iraqis mean nothing, right? They’re subhumans, right? =) because that’s certainly how they were treated - they were brutally raped, tortured, sodomized, ETC by AMERICANS. And they did it proudly, taking photos of these innocent people they had dehumanized, taking photos of themselves with these people they dehumanized, smiling, proudly holding their thumbs up. So don’t feed me your sob story that I literally don’t give a fuck about. Your father, your brother and your boyfriend made that choice when they joined. The innocent Iraqis didn’t have a choice. Save your tears. I have no respect for those “men and women who have a job” because their job is to meddle in the affairs of other countries, their job is to terrorize people =) Don’t preach to me about respect when you support the destruction of other countries and lives.
