The crisp fall breeze blew fragile leaves through the open doorway.
America smiled and knocked on the door despite having already opened it, rap-a-rap-rap. His pattern. âHello!â He called out through the house as he knocked.
He closed the immense door behind him, careful not to let the heavy wood slam and disturb the quiet that ruled the home.
The scent of old wood told decades of memories held by the lineage that loved this never-leased house.
He knelt to untie his dress shoes, picking at the knot with trimmed fingernails. Quiet, steady steps made Russiaâs presence known to him.
America glanced up. Russia had an easy posture and was wearing his favorite sweater â black, with soft ribbed fabric that stretched over his broad chest and shoulders while draping looser at his sides. It showed Russiaâs fitness while still obscuring his exact form.
America met Russiaâs gaze, those blue â or goluboy, as heâd call it â eyes feeling like the gentle gulf coast tide washing over him.
He stood and threw himself into Russia, his arms tucked under Russiaâs and squeezing his firm torso, which was softened by his wool sweater. Pressing his face into his shoulder, it smelled of simple detergent and the soft, natural scent Russia possessed.
The manâs broad hands cradled Americaâs back, holding him in the embrace. âĐОйŃĐ°Ń Đ˛ĐľŃĐľŃ, ĐĐľŃик,â Russia rumbled, his hand briefly caressing the small of his back.
They slid out of the hug, America automatically grinning. âPumpkin spice is here,â he breathed.
Russiaâs mouth quirked in amusement. âAnd how many lattes have you had since the flavor returned?â
âI dunno, six or seven?â America moved his hands up and down, palms up, as if weighing his trivial answers.
âNot surprised,â Russia murmured. âI assume you would like to make that⌠seven or eight?â Russia did a similar hand motion, but smaller.
America grinned triumphantly, his hand sliding down to hold Russiaâs. âHeck yeah.â
America threw open the door, the incorporeal breeze meeting his skin, and waltzed out.
His foot met cold cement, and he yelped, lurching back inside the house. âThis is what happens when you freaks make me take off my shoes!â He exclaimed, his fingers clutching the fabric of Russiaâs sweater.
âIt is how we do not track dirt and moisture throughout the house,â Russia chuckled, sitting to put on his own shoes. âCome on, Amerika, get ready to go. Properly.â
America dramatically groaned and spun around and kicked the floor before plopping himself down on the floor and shoving on his shoes once more. âSo bossyâŚâ he muttered.
âSays the man dragging me out the door a moment ago,â Russia finished tying his shoes, each with a perfect little bow.
America made an endeared snivel at how adorable they were, at how adorable Russia was for doing it so precisely. âYouâve perfected the art of shoe-tyingâŚâ America glanced down at his own lopsidedly-tied shoelaces, and pulled his feet towards himself in jocular shame.
Russia tilted his head, looking down at his shoelaces. âI suppose? Is not hard to make them neat.
America then stuck his foot out and displayed his own wondrous job of tying his shoelaces. âRight, right, rub it in, Mr. Icy and Perfect and Cool and also Hot andââ
Russia blushed and grabbed his shoe, pulling America up when he stood.
The world whirled and America was suddenly and totally incomprehensibly seeing everything upside-down. He shouted (in a higher pitch than heâd admit) and thrashed as Russia held him above the ground by his ankle, his grip firm.
âRussia! You freakingâ stupidâ idioticâ commieâ hunk!â America hit Russiaâs calf with little malice, but also not a lot of merit.
Russia was unphased by the weak attack. âAre you ready now?â Russia asked calmly, amusement backstabbing his cool tone.
âIf youâd put me down!â America flailed.
Russia flipped America and set him down on his feet.
âIdiot⌠ruining my hairâŚâ America huffed and smoothed his hair. His irritated words did nothing when a grin graced his face.
âIt looks fine. Now, letâs go, ПаНонкиК аПоŃиканоŃ.â Russia pushed America out the door.
âYou mean stellar but totally ruined!â Americaâs mind caught up with the Russian part of that sentence. âAnd I am not small or cute or however youâre using that word!â America turned and pointed accusingly at Russia, while walking backwards.
Russia shrugged.
âSir Brevity over here is looking sooo witty by saying nothing.â America prodded. âYou want to argue, I know you do~â
âUnnecessary, when you make yourself look foolish on your own,â came his low tone.
America paused as he was opening the door to his immaculate violet Corvette. âWHAT!â He squawked.
Russia covered a laugh with his hand and got in the passenger side of the car. His legs had to bend, knees high, in order for him to fit in the streamlined sports car. But it was Americaâs favorite vehicle, so he didnât mind.
America slid into the driverâs seat, pulling his seatbelt over his hips and buckling it with a click. Then, he put in the key, and his glorious car revved to life.

at most i think hes distant (busy with work + so many kids = not a lot of time to actually spend time with them) and sometimes cant provide enough food for everyone or even himself (thats mostly outside of his control) but he would never lay hands on any of them. ever.
he loves his children dearly but its kinda impossible to be the perfect father with THAT many kids. but he wasnt horrible. he was trying his best and i think thats what matters.
and out of all my countries who are fathers hes like the best one. HAHA. its a low bar.

I personally donât headcanon that a lot of the republics are his actual children, but were rather taken in by him (if a bit forcefully/manipulatively) and then treated like his children. This is due to the way the Soviet Union gained new territory đ He cared for them, but he definitely had favorites, like Russia, who he raised as a very loyal and strong son to aid and possibly succeed him. Because of this, Russia currently clings to Soviet ideology despite having changed, as well as the nostalgia of childhood and a father who loved and cared for him.
Historically, the Soviet Union was⌠pretty messed up. And Iâm not going to hide that fact. But I do feel like you canât just make him evil or insane since thereâs a lot more depth to the horrors of the Soviet Union. Thereâs wars. Global wars, cold wars, proxy wars. And other things. Take the Holodomor, for example⌠the collectivization of Ukrainian land, the rebellion of the Kulaks who knew how to farm, and their subsequent death for defiance. (Dekulakization was also a thing, which was intentional targeting of these people during collectivization of their land) (I think the user dekulakization knows this) Then they implemented others on the land to do the farm work instead, but they were less effective than the people before them who knew what they were doing. Plus, the Soviet Union took all the food the farms produced, and when redistributing, gave more to urban areas which caused people in rural areas (especially Ukraine) to starve and die.
Ukraine had it rough in this time. Thatâs just one event for one republic. I think Soviet was highly negligent towards republics like Ukraine, despite how hard they tried to work and provide for the family.
This is also about Ukraine, so sorry about that, but the Chernobyl nuclear disaster also came from negligence to fix the facilityâs issues (which were known by the Soviet Union) which then caused the explosion, devastating the plant and the civilian areas around it. This is js something I wanted to slip in here
The republics also had very limited autonomy, and the Soviet Union made many decisions for them, especially in defense, foreign policy, and economy. I could reasonably write him being very controlling (perhaps with an overprotective tone) of their safety, the way they live, the people they interact with⌠and push them to keep things centered around the family.
Anyways. Yeah he has a lot of kids and also opinions and manages that imperfectly. He was also actively trying to expand the influence of communism because he believed that a world running on it was the best reality (and America + others actively combatted this while spreading capitalism).
History makes me scream because the whole time Iâm just thinking about how it could be implemented in countryhumans. Soviet is dad-coded but heâs not always good at it.

Happy Pioneer Day! I drew my personification of Utah for this :)
Pioneer Day, celebrated on the 24th of July, commemorates the first group of LDS (Mormon) pioneers that arrived in Utah, as well as the settlers in the region and those around it afterwards! While I donât attend many of the activities (such as parades), I still think itâs a fun holiday, especially as my own ancestors were Mormon pioneers that traveled to the state :D
