Hello. We’re the Chromαtic Roses. An adaptive dissociative system. You can call us Chroma when we don’t specify who’s fronting. Ask us what pronouns we prefer, it’ll change depending on who’s in front.
Posts tagged with #<name>core are posts that remind us of various alters within our system.
BYF and other blogs under the cut!
BYF:
Don’t ask us who’s fronting. If we want to be called a specific name, we’ll specify. If not just use Chromα.
We are fictive heavy, specifically RvB fictive heavy.
Red vs Blue has been our main special interest for over a decade. Our other main SpIn is Undertale/Deltarune.
We are inclusive of all system types and origins! Plurality is a spectrum and the psychiatric institute is a means of oppression. If you don’t agree we will block you.
We are inclusionists. We very strongly believe in respecting self identification. Whatever label someone wants to be called is what they are called. We may not understand why, but that doesn’t matter. You know you better than anyone else ever possibly could.
The question of how fiction interacts with reality is one with so much complexity and nuance that every piece of art must be analyzed for its impact on an individual basis. The idea that you can boil down this incredibly complex issue into two opposing factions is so asinine it infuriates me. If you align yourself with either side of "shipcourse" you will not find a home here.
Trans men/transmasculine people face a unique form of oppression that deserves to be addressed. I do not care what words you use to describe it and consider arguments about language to be distractions from actually addressing transmasculine oppression.

Is Dude Gender Neutral is just Is Christmas Secular for gender. no, it's not gender/religiously neutral. yes, you can personally interact with it in a non-gendered/christian fashion. yes, it is an asshole move to insist it's neutral to someone who isn't a man/doesn't practice christianity. yes, people who aren't men/don't practice christianity can do the thing without compromising their identities. are we done yet
hlvrai is like. That image of a bunch of characters that are like “thank god I’m the only normal one here” except only Gordon is thinking that. And he’s wrong.
"shipping and blorbofication are not inherently at odds with understanding a story's deep themes" and "some people can't grasp the themes of a story because they never learned how to engage with stories outside of the lens of shipping and blorbofication" are two statements that can coexist
blorbofication to me is when you love a character in such a laser focus way that you somewhat detach them from the narrative from which they are inserted and treat them in a way roughly similar to how you'd treat an oc for which you still have no story and just like to put them in situations just for fun. which there's nothing wrong with btw, it's just that it can easily lead to people forgetting the character engine in a narrative and not just a barbie doll

Every attempt to like, "explain tradwives" or whatever (or basically "explain" the presence of conservative, far-right, alt-right, and otherwise reactionary women) always seems so focused on finding one single thing to blame it on ("they're disillusioned with girlboss feminism having gone too far" and "actually they just wanna do bdsm" being the two worst ones imo) and yet no one seems to have come to the conclusion that women are fully autonomous individual people equally capable of being religious fundamentalists, White supremacists, nationalists of all kinds, and, yes, misogynists for mostly the exact same reasons men are
“Teachers are often unaware of the gender distribution of talk in their classrooms. They usually consider that they give equal amounts of attention to girls and boys, and it is only when they make a tape recording that they realize that boys are dominating the interactions. Dale Spender, an Australian feminist who has been a strong advocate of female rights in this area, noted that teachers who tried to restore the balance by deliberately ‘favouring’ the girls were astounded to find that despite their efforts they continued to devote more time to the boys in their classrooms. Another study reported that a male science teacher who managed to create an atmosphere in which girls and boys contributed more equally to discussion felt that he was devoting 90 per cent of his attention to the girls. And so did his male pupils. They complained vociferously that the girls were getting too much talking time. In other public contexts, too, such as seminars and debates, when women and men are deliberately given an equal amount of the highly valued talking time, there is often a perception that they are getting more than their fair share. Dale Spender explains this as follows: “The talkativeness of women has been gauged in comparison not with men but with silence. Women have not been judged on the grounds of whether they talk more than men, but of whether they talk more than silent women.” In other words, if women talk at all, this may be perceived as ‘too much’ by men who expect them to provide a silent, decorative background in many social contexts.”

Every EVERY women’s studies class I’ve been in has had this problem and failed to address it.
the ideological outlook of an organisation doesn't have to include the preservation of capitalism at all to serve that purpose. take the conservative christian group that ran and funded the legal case of the NHS nurses who campaigned to exclude a trans woman from women's changing rooms. by promoting christian moral values and fighting for their protection through lawfare, the christian group is protecting existing gender roles and the institution of the family, which are central to reproducing social relations in capitalist society. every decision of the group's staff and funders can be made on purely faith based reasons, but serve the interests of the capitalist class by shoring up the institutions that help protect the current social order. every ideology serves the interests of a particular class, even if the people promoting it don't have that intention
let's be clear about why Tucker Carlson and co are speaking out against Israel's genocide of the Palestinians. the genocide is massively unpopular and these rightwing propagandists are trying to capture people's outrage and funnel it into America First nationalism. they're trying to keep everyone's political consciousness low by directing all that anger and frustration into criticism of Israel, instead of criticism of the wider US led imperialist system that Israel is part of. if they didn't, the only people explaining why the genocide is happening would be us pesky communists, who'll link it to the people being impoverished in Cuba by the US blockade, to the people being bombed in Iran, and to all the other people in the world who are being violently oppressed due to capitalist imperialism

it's a cliché by now but there's only so much history you can learn before you either become a Marxist or a liar. there's a reason that so much of liberal propaganda is explaining prejudice as a mysterious personal failing, and poverty as a not so mysterious personal failing, while so much of Marxist propaganda is explaining that both these things result from systems of exploitation that we can demonstrate through research and data
Of course no heuristic is universally true, but I think if you're an american who considers themselves "progressive" this is a rule of thumb you should probably be considering more often: If the conversation you're currently participating in is only able to happen because someone is going out of their way to speak *your* language, that's probably not the person who's most in need of informing themselves about the other's country in this conversation.
It's just such a common pattern, how when you disagree with an american about something like e.g. the idea that it's unfair to hate members of the US military, the american will always walk into the conversation with the unshakable assumption that the only reason why you could possibly disagree with them is because *you* are not informed enough about *their* country, that you obviously are not aware of how bad veterans have it once they return home, or of the conditions of poverty and systemic inequality that might drive someone to see the military as their only chance for upward mobility, or of how aggressively military recruiters campaign, or how much propaganda they make, or how they take advantage of systemic inequality to recruit from disadvantaged populations, or a million other things which they will inherently assume you lack an understanding of and proceed to condescendingly explain to you.
All the while they refuse to entertain even for one second the possibility that it might be *them* who has something to learn about *your* country, that they might not be informed enough about the violence and terror the US military enacted upon your people, that *they* might lack some awareness or understanding of the cruelty and suffering that those poor, propagandized, systemically disenfranchised kids lied to by recruiters gladly participated in enacting which might drive even people who are fully aware of their conditions to still harbor resentment towards them. The possibility that the other person might have a better understanding of the conditions in their country than viceversa and still disagree with them will never even cross their mind.
A mysterious black hooded figure we don't know the identity of and can only speculate who they are? Close enough, welcome to the fandom BHG (Black Hood Girl) thank you for continuing the tradition started by BHK back with KH1

the retrocession or worsening of social conditions is never a straight line and it would be reductive to position any one particular group or issue to be the "first one to fall". the attacks on entire social groups are never single strikes either, quantitative into qualitative etc. you need to look at trends, conditions, internal movements, not a kind of lighthouse that can cut through the idealist fog of taking the whole to be the mere sum of its parts
"Dogwhistles" are called that based on real "dog whistles", many of which are pitched too high to be audible to most humans, but are still perfectly audible to dogs.
Rhetorical dogwhistles are things that most people would not be able to identify as bigoted because they're INTENDED to have plausible deniability.
The wording changes are meant to be subtle enough that people really can mix them up accidentally when they don't have much information!
So when the gender critical movement calls trans women "transwomen", they're hoping for 2 things.
this usage will spread enough among people who don't know any better, to give transphobes the plausible deniability of not LOOKING like a frothing bigot constantly.
the usage grammatically places trans women in a different category than other women; it's changing "trans" from an adjective to part of a noun to make this distinction.
The more we can avoid this usage, the less deniability have transmisogynists have when using it, and the less rhetorical ground we cede to the degendering and misgendering of trans women.
I don't actually think ceding this ground is LESS divisive than pointing it out politely.
