Set in fall term of third year the Dementor on train kisses the scar and sucks out the shard of Riddle's soul – with interesting reaction in the Dementor. Declared 'uninteresting' without the Dark Lord's mark, Harry is deserted by old friends and ignored by Dumbledore but he makes new friends. Then he receives a letter from Dementor who wants something.

When Voldemort comes knocking at the door, James Potter makes a move out of sheer desperation and receives help from an unexpected quarter.

Aziraphale’s wings are nothing like Crowley’s. They’re much smoother, less textured by roughness and a ten-thousand feet free-fall into boiling sulphur at the end. It doesn’t matter if Crowley fell eons ago, there is lingering, permanent damage to his wings. In canon, healers and mediwitches were seemingly spared from the predations of the Death Eaters during both Blood Wars. St. Mungo's would have been a very soft target, but it stood inviolate. One patient was attacked, but the hospital and it's staff were spared. The question is, why? What could have kept mad killers in check? As with a great many other things, Poppy knew.

So, I was rereading the Potter books for the first time since 'Deathly Hallows' was still new, and as I finished reading the final battle scene I found myself thinking 'what if...?' As anyone who knows me could tell you, that's dangerous for my sanity. Many an epic-length story has snuck up on me in just such a way and quietly eaten my brain, stealing days or weeks, even months from me to write the story so that I can find out what happened. Yes, it happened again. What if... Fred didn't die and Molly killed Bellatrix after she saw her kill Ginny? Such small changes, but it's the little things that can make a huge difference in an alternate universe story. I wanted to know, and this is what happened.
