I’m not a great one for recording numbers, but 75 years ago was VE Day, the end of World War 2. War is never a good thing, but it is a good thing if the side that stands for freedom wins it. So on a beautifully sunny Bank Holiday our neighbourhood houses had bunting up and the families had picnics, each in their own front garden.
