Tuesday night was my first trip to #Marlins Park, and the smile you see here was before I realized that I'd get to see Jose Fernandez pitch. In Miami, it was "Jose Day," and the city came together to support one of the most exciting players in MLB. Fernandez threw 8 scoreless innings, getting MVP candidate Daniel Murphy to ground out to end the 8th, winning his final start against the NL East-leading Nationals. Earlier that day, Fernandez had announced on Instagram that his girlfriend is pregnant. This morning, Fernandez was killed in a boating accident off Miami Beach. Terrible, devastating news for Miami, the entirety of MLB and the world of sports. #JoseFernandez #Marlins #RIP (at Marlins Park)
