Anatomy of a Cut (cont) Whenever cutting, weight goes up and down. Sometimes by alarming amounts. Especially if you use cheat days. This is entirely due to water fluctuations and food matter inside you. It’s not at all representative of body fat. The weight at any moment means very little. Look for average trends over weeks. See my weight chart for the last 3 months for an example and compare to the photo. Notice the red line showing the overall trend vs. the brown jagged line showing unique weigh-ins. Also notice the end of trend line is a fair bit higher than the last weigh in. This is because I know weight will rebound by a lot the minute I let up on some dietary pressures. And when cheat days come, be prudent. One bad cheat day can undo a whole previous week of progress. Use the mirror WITH the scale to try to get a handle on what’s really going on. But be cautious because the mirror can also mislead you. You need to use both, and you need to track what you’re doing, and you need patience and persistence. Your best cutting strategy will depend on a lot of variables.
