SO I’m about to ramble, but in this little au the only real MAJOR differences I have are that Benrey was a test subject at the same time Bubby was being made.

so Benrey came from Xen, and was discovered wandering the Earth and that’s like, no we can’t have stray aliens so Black Mesa took care of that.

Xen evolves as a whole to flourish, and Benrey was grown essentially, grown to be Xen’s guardian, but he got lost and was found by Black Mesa whoops.

At this young point in his life, he doesn’t have the ability to morph into different shapes yet, but Black Mesa’s goal is to teach him to take on a human-ish shape and guard Black Mesa basically. So over time, he gradually started to take on the appearance of what he saw the most of, which was humans.

Small Benrey has no mouth on his head, only the big one on his abdomen, he cannon speak but can produce sweet voice from the mouth on his tummy, the tentacles can grow a little longer at will (up to an extra 50 cm).

He’s not meant to free roam but is escaping his enclosure as much as possible (and he stole a labcoat cause it’s cold in underground labs) This is how he met Bubby. He found another room and inside was Bubby’s tube with Bubby inside.
