Ohhh this trope is one of the most adorable! It’s not a lot of weight at all, no one else would be able to notice the difference in how the suit fits, but having tried it on the day before the person themselves knows how it would sit on them. How embarrassing! And with no time to get a new one or make adjustments, the only thing they can come up with is going hungry.

Shouldn’t be a big deal since it’s just for the day, right?

Well, famously, stomachs really don’t like the rug being ripped from under them in terms of mealtime. If you feed them consistently (or at least a consistent number of meals) each day, then suddenly stop? Oh buddy. Pal. You’ve got a storm on your hands.

It’s gonna be all they can do to make excuses around their hunger. Coughing or talking louder, never standing too close to someone else if they can help it, and god forbid someone does. All the while, their hollow stomach growls angrily at its carrier for outright neglect.

It’s the scenario where all the person can do is think of food, rearranging their whole day or plans around food they’re excited for (or have found themselves suddenly in need of)

Where other people will notice how their hunger affects them to the point they comment on it, “Of course you wanna go there. Always thinking with your stomach, huh?”
