Okay, please don't take this the wrong way (I found your blog bc I agree with you on the Sir Cameron situation) but on the last fundraiser you reblogged (from Noor) you say that is your friend you know well, but it is from a blog that is spam @-ing at random blogs in the comments on almost every one of their posts and one I've personally blocked and reported last year because I got anonymous spam asks allegedly coming from it. If it's not part of the scammers, then why is she doing that? If she's a real person, could you maybe talk to her and tell her that this is hurting her credibility?
I don't mean anything ill to you, but you seem like a passionate and smart person and I'm worried you are being taken advantage of.
okay i understand you think you're coming from a good place, but not only have i been talking to noor for over a year, but the @/gazavetters blog has her listed on their verification spreadsheet, and they continuously check in with fundraising families and, yes, mark them spam or scams depending on their interactions with said families. she is listed as legitimate
that said, it doesn't matter what she does, people are always going to lean into the "palestinian fundraisers are scams!" belief regardless of how much she and other palestinians show us their entire lives to try and prove they're human beings who are worth saving. like gazavetters is an entire blog run by other palestinians dedicated to verifying that these are real people, in fact it's literally listed in noor's bio! but rather than actually take a second to look through it you'd rather believe it's a scam
and though it doesn't matter considering everything i just said, mass tagging is actually a very common tactic among all types of fundraising, not just those for palestinians - it gets more eyes on the post, which hopefully leads to more shares, which leads to more donations. if it bothers you that much you can block the blogs doing it, but you can also keep that to yourself rather than you trying to undermine noor's credibility by going around telling people she's probably a scammer
Noor is a real woman whom I speak to in our shared mother language. She's doing what she thinks will get funds for her children. How does her tagging people frequently reflect on her credibility in any way? If you were watching your son suffer because you couldn't afford to buy his medication, you'd be desperate enough to start being "annoying" on a website you're unfamiliar with and that you're only using because you're hoping you can get help from it.
I can't ask you to like it, or not be annoyed by it, or to even tolerate it, even if I want to beg people not to be put off by it. I've given up on that. If you want to block and avoid any kind of engagement, that's your prerogative, and I can't ask you not to.
But to **REPORT** her like you said you did warrants much more than being annoyed. You need something more substantial than the fact that you don't like it. Please stop doing things like this on a whim because you're hurting real people who already have the whole world against them.
If you can't bring yourself to tolerate her behavior under the incredibly cruel circumstances she's under, then please at least conceptualize it as "this is a real person in real need behaving in a way that I dislike" instead of "this person is behaving in a way I dislike therefore they are not in real need" because that's just unreasonable.
EDIT: The Noor I'm referring to in my reblog is Noor Ashour, but after seeing Jay's pinned post, I believe anon is probably referring to Noor Al-Anqar, whom I have no contact with, but is still verified by gazavetters, so I still stand by what I said about separating likeability and credibility.
for real tho it feels exhausting that ive seen this whole "woman should be allowed to abstain from X beauty standard" -> "i perform X beauty standard, am i evil? do you think im evil? please forgive me i came up with a dozen excuses 🥺" since like 2015 (and i know its been going on longer than that) like girl thats not the poiiiiint
look me in the eyes. repeat after me. "i face societal pressure to perform this beauty standard. i should not face that pressure. i conform to this standard. i am rewarded for performing to this standard. i need to respect women who do not perform this standard. this is not about whether or not i am a sinner for wearing makeup."

i really really hate seeing black men as portrayed juxtapositions to innocence and kindness in memes, internet jokes and the like. and seeing them proclaimed as “wholesome,” when they are just like. Being “human” people that aren’t being masculine in the way they are thought to be being exceptional and surprising ! it snitches on you! every time!
you gotta ask yourself, why does this idea of opposition effect you? why does a black man handling a kitten illicit that response from you? why does a meme talking about kindness and love with black men in the bg holding up gang signs feel the way it feels? what are these jokes saying about your humor? humor is a tool to interact with larger society, it’s a tool you gotta make sure isn’t being sharpened as a weapon in your hand
@closet-keys thank you so much for reminding me of my favorite videos on this topic. good context that is mentioned in this clip is also that demi is a short man (5’4”-5”), dark skinned and has locs so i bet he gets this A LOT.
i especially appreciate his insight on how it makes him feels desexualizing and like a fucking puppy because two things are happening here.
the desexualization speaks to the default image of black men in the social consciousness. they are “bucks,” “studs, “mandigoes,” and so on and so forth. the juxtaposition confirms the expectation of what a black man is and isn’t. black men are Meant to be sexual objects defined by aggression and desire so it’s surprising when they aren’t !
the feeling of a puppy, personally makes me think of the inverse of it being a dog or a cur. there is ownership here, there is an expectation of wildness and dehumanization. god it even has infantilization! it’s got it all. a dog is only good when it can be controlled, unthreatening, and malleable to training. that is how white women Especially see black men. and im going to also say that white queers, yall do this SO FUCKING MUCH, to black men it’s disgusting. whether it’s in fandom or in the news, it’s omnipresent and disgusting
