I do think Killua loves Illumi, even though others believe he hates him (I think Killua does love all of his family members). Canonically, Killua is afraid of Illumi, but fear isn’t necessarily the opposite of love, especially when it comes to things as complex as family. I also think a lot of people believing Killua hates his family is due to a lot of people having a strict view of those who have been abused, and think all victims must hate their abusers, which is not true— especially when it comes to family, where everyone is conditioned to be loyal to them and love them from birth.

With Illumi too, I often see people downplaying his behaviour by saying “he loves Killua, this is just his messed up way of showing it”, and whilst I have no doubt that is true, it doesn’t take away the harm from it. He is still harming Killua. When mothers and fathers scream at their children, oftentimes they still feel love in their hearts when doing so. Additionally, a husband can harm his wife, yet still love her deeply. How many friends have people had that have said or done cruel things to you, yet you know they still love you? It is the same case with the Zoldycks, especially with Illumi and Killua.
