it is bright colors that you find yourself abandoned to. bright colors, cherry blossoms against a clear sky, you remember thinking. that was before you had come anywhere close, & that act of itself was hardly of your own will. you had offered to help with inventory, vying to be helpful still on the tail end of a wound. company, however, was nothing you chose; all the noise you offer her is the quiet shuffling of items from pile to pile. at least, for awhile. it is a lance you come across, awkward as you hold it, that sparks, lights the smallest flame: if you’re to protect lady sakura, there are surely ways to better yourself. knowing more of the things that would harm you, her it’s one of them. you’d sooner die before learning from him though.

‘ is there really any advantage to these? ’ you begin by pondering. though, admittedly, it is merely to try & bait her without admitting your own weaknesses. ‘ i mean . . . ’ and then you gesture to it, a motion to say just look at it. ‘ i don’t see it. ’

Sorting through inventory -- not something Peri would personally like to do in her free time. She would rather be out training or cooking than do such a menial task -- ah, but if it’s for the cause, she guesses she might as well help out. Even if it’s boooring ! She picks up an axe and shakily turns it side to side, unaccustomed to the weight distribution. Here, she can appreciate its killing potential but ugh. WAY too lopsided for her to imagine actually using in battle.

The monotonous silence was interrupted by the area’s other occupant, her name currently escaping Peri’s memory -- not that she would want to know a Hoshidan’s name. She glances at the pile of trash in front the other girl and focuses in on the item the samurai was referencing. Oh ! A lance, Peri’s weapon of choice for a multitude of reasons. She begins to feel excitement rise as she realizes she has a chance to talk shop.

“There are plenty of advantages to using a lance ! ” How could this Hoshidan not see the usefulness of this weapon ?! “It’s reach is AMAZING ! You can reach your opponent before they can get the chance to hurt you back ! It’s reeeally good against swords but, ah...” Peri pauses, wondering why the samurai even asked in the first place. Do... Do Hoshidans not know how to use lances ? Okay, now that’s just sad. Looks like Peri’s gotta work her magic and help out of the kindness of her heart ! “Do you want me to show you how to use a lance ? ”

Peri was used to cooking by herself, but cooking with an ally ( friend ?) is something she thinks she could get used to. She worked slowly to allow Felicia the chance to observe and copy her actions but as the cooking process continues, Peri began to get into the rhythm of preparing a meal and picks up the pace, forgetting all about teaching the other woman how to cook. At hearing the maid’s worried questions, she stops what she's doing and looks over Felicia’s work. Peri stares at it for a moment. Uh... What is this ? This can’t be what Peri was trying to teach her.

“Hmm... I’m sure... You’re doing everything 100% wrong ! ” Peri grouses, face beginning to flush from frustration. How can Felicia mess a simple chop up ?! “What kind of maid can’t even make -- whatever ! Yeah, I’ll show you again. Make sure you don’t mess this up or I’ll THWACK you ! ” Saying this, she takes whatever Felicia was making and puts it right where it belongs -- in the trash. She turns to face the maid, determined to get something about cooking through to her. “Okay, before we every TRY again, what do you actually know about cooking ? Do you even know what seasonings belong in a chop ? ”
