Three things that helped me make my art practice sustainable

as an AuDHD comic artist who struggles with motivation

an extremely accessible goal (making comics for at least 10 minutes every day)

a daily reminder on my phone

a calendar where I can mark my daily goal as done and keep a streak (very satisfying)

Please be gentle with your brain and celebrate all the "small" achievements!

I think the advice of "being consistent" is too vague and hard to put into practice.

Being consistent in doing what, I mean, exactly? And for how much time? How many steps does it take?

Here's a neurodivergent-friendly tip: do not choose hard goals for your consistency. Actually, choose extremely easy and clear ones.

Consistency must be accessible and sustainable.

My goal is: make comics for at least ten minutes every day!

I'm now on day 142 and I'm so proud.

Please do not overwhelm yourself chasing unsustainable goals!
