this is... something. about scarlett. not exactly a lie, but something ignored.

azura is technically an important side character in the sense that she's the focus of one "book" and probably gets mentioned a bit because she's... decently famous? also maybe appears in another story but that's all very hypothetical (there are so many characters i need to cobble together it'd be exhausting).

the first place in the phantom of the bluebird theatre is, somewhat obviously, the titular theatre.

song from their playlist: wild uncharted waters from the live action little mermaid (specifcally the annapantsu cover). fitting, considering which fairy tale they're inspired by.

Today's moodboard should be about a magical or cursed location in your wip!

uhh something something a town winds up being the unfortunate victim of one very powerful enchanter's attempt to amend a previously cast curse. lots of roses moving about and causing chaos, swallowing up townsfolk and such. also there may or may not be beasts on the prowl.

before, time for painting was stolen in increments – barely more than five minutes, if that – in between the myriad of other duties she had. paints were sparse, passed to her by marlene when she was able to, and the work itself was small and easily hidden.

now, she could paint for a whole day if she wanted to – her husband would pout and whine, but smile and remind her to take breaks all the same – but rarely does. her collection of art supplies is vast – oils and watercolours and chalk pastels – and she still remembers the day vesper presented her with a studio, with canvases large enough they would be impossible to miss.

the cloak is spotless: its red colour still as bright as the day it was made, stitches as strong as ever, no tears in the fabric from claw or thorn.

it remains as it did the night scarlett left it on her bunk and disappeared into the forest, never to be heard from again.

in truth, silvia knows that she should have passed it down to another sister long ago… but there is something that keeps it tucked away in the back of her wardrobe, hidden in a box.

it’s the only physical thing she has to remember her by.

scarlett's ride-or-die best friend is not her ghostly assistant, not any of the many people she meets across her life, but her "horse".

sort of grey, i guess? definitely brings to mind the snow queen and her frozen kingdom, which isn't a fun place to visit when it shows up. also isn't necessarily a fun place to visit after the curse is broken if you don't like the cold. also brings to mind the embodiment of winter.

Today we're going to create a moodboard that is focused on the creepiest place in your story.

do i think the fallen rose kingdom is the creepiest place in mftd? debatable. do i think it would be very unnerving to walk through acres of thorn covered landscape to arrive at a city that is remarkably intact for being abandoned over a thousand years ago, also covered in thorns, all the while knowing that something is alive and well within the ruins? yeah.
