A little bit about me:

I'm 16 and from the UK, I'm queer, a Pisces ♓︎ and autistic. She/her pronouns (AFAB) I'm not really on social media but I'm ready to put myself out there so please do talk to me and ask me questions if you'd like to!! ♡

My interests:

I'm recovering from a eating disorder which I realize stole a lot of my personality from me. Now I am rediscovering a lot of things that I used to enjoy such as scrapbooking- I adore it! I also enjoy writing in my diary, colouring & reading (a lot of fanfiction) my favorite book is V.C. Andrews' Flowers In The Attic . I ♡ old & ugly things and am often second hand shopping. I like dolls, taxidermy (though I don't condone hurting animals), psychological horror & flower pressing. I love all animals but especially cats♡ I'm a big fan of positivity and have always admired the little things in our world... I have enjoyed many movies and TV shows but there are so many more that I hope to watch. I like most genres. ✩

My music taste changes a lot but some artists that have stuck with me include: Nicole Dollanganger (I have been so in love with her music for years) , La Dispute , electric wizard, Elita, Ethel Cain & yung lean. Ive always liked country, metal & Midwest emo music however, I can't say that I'm not a fan of pop music! 𝄞

one thing i’ve realized is that no one is ever going to experience your emotions the exact way you do, and that’s because no two brains are wired the same. everyone has different experiences, memories, and even different ways their brain processes emotions, so what feels small to one person can feel overwhelming to someone else. people love to say “it’s not that big of a deal” or “just get over it,” but your brain doesn’t work like an on and off switch. emotions aren’t choices. psychologists have found that our brains process emotional pain through complex networks that are influenced by our past experiences, stress, personality, and even our biology. that’s why two people can go through the exact same situation and react completely differently. neither reaction is wrong. they’re just different.

that’s why i think people need to stop judging how someone else feels. if you’re upset, then you’re upset. if you need to cry, then cry. crying isn’t weakness either. it’s actually one of the ways your body helps regulate intense emotions and lower stress after you’ve been overwhelmed. pretending you’re fine doesn’t magically make the feeling disappear. it usually just pushes it down until it comes back even stronger. your emotions are there for a reason, even when they don’t make sense to anyone else.

i think we spend way too much time trying to convince people that our feelings are “valid,” when the truth is they don’t need permission to exist. no one else gets to decide what should or shouldn’t hurt you because no one else has your brain, your memories, or your perspective. something that barely affects one person could completely shatter someone else, and that’s okay. healing doesn’t start when everyone finally understands you. it starts when you stop expecting them to and start giving yourself permission to feel what you’re already feeling. just because other people don’t think it’s a big deal doesn’t mean it isn’t one to you, and your emotions don’t become less real just because someone else can’t understand them. sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is stop fighting your feelings and let yourself feel them, because accepting your emotions is the first step toward actually moving through them instead of carrying them forever.

I finished reading it last week and I havent stopped thinking about it since. The way she's humanized is just so beautiful. This was such an important read for me ♡
