As a younger deeply insecure wounded person in my early 20s I thought it was good and exciting when someone is mean to everyone else but nice to you. I think a lot of people could fall for this, a sort of sense of protection offered in the early lovebombing stages with a misanthrope who’s making an exception for you. My warning from experience is that such a person cannot keep putting up the facade of making an exception just for you for very long, and they will be just as cruel to you very soon. People who are nice to everybody and are nice to you too because they fundamentally value human beings (and count you among them, validating your humanity) and consider kindness and compassion the bare minimum, are what you actually need to be looking for
