"It's one of the reasons you're my very favorite," he said, an actual glimmer in his eye when he knew how much trouble that could get him into, which he followed up with a wink, "don't tell the others." Truth be told, he could never choose a favorite cousin, the same way he could never choose a favorite kid, a favorite sibling, but he sure as hell did love them all. Especially when they came over with things that made his life a lot easier. "You're welcome," he said with a smile, taking the coat from her and hanging it carefully on the rack in the mud room, making sure that it would be easy to find whenever she was heading out again, especially lost against the myriad of rain coats and little girl puffer jackets that were hanging there now.
"He's settling in pretty well so far," he said as he rejoined her and started into the living room, pushing open one of the French doors that he had closed to keep the temperature in the room just right; just extra cozy. Perfect for a dozing baby who was stirring just a little in his bassinet, grubby fist near his mouth, smattering of blonde hair on his head in disarray from his nap. "Sleeps pretty good, I mean… for a newborn, you know." Which wasn't to say that they were getting much sleep as parents, but it was still worth it. He led the way over to the couch, letting Chelly take the seat closest to the bassinet that was stationed right next to it. "Make yourself comfy."
"I knew it," she gave a small grin, taking off her boots as well, leaving them on the rack near the door, leaving them on the end so they'd be easy to spot. "But- I don't know, could make for an interesting next family get together if word got out. All we have to do is sit on the sidelines with a drink and wait," she joked, a laugh escaping her lips. Her extended family being near was something she'd been grateful for. All of them held an equal spot in her heart, and she was glad she was invited over for a moment as special as this one.
"Well, even so, it's good to hear he's settling in well," She knew it'd been quite a while since Cage welcomed Colton, so she'd assumed it would take a moment for him to get used to the new schedule, adjusting to being a new parent again. Following behind Cage, her eyes caught sight of the bassinet. Her heart swelled as she drew closer, a flash of blonde hair and the sight of the tiny features, and she broke out into a bright smile. "Oh my- he is so precious," she spoke in a lower volume, though the fond tone was clear, taking a seat on the couch near the baby.
