Keep Fighting.

There’s too much in her head.

Sighing, Minako’s eyes searched the crowded streets for relief in the form of a glowing blue door, knowing that one always appeared when she needed it most. Or even when she didn’t need it, honestly. Igor tended to know what was needed before the thought even crossed her mind.

Speaking of minds, often MInako wondered what it would be like to tell a psychologist she had demons in her head. And angels. And sometimes creatures with tentacles and too many appendages. Creatures that were currently beating against her consciousness, causing her head to throb as she weaved her way through Tokyo’s streets. Lately the more Personae she kept, the worst her headaches got. 

Maybe she had been doing this too long. 

Still, rumors of more and more Shadows appearing meant that trouble was brewing, and brewing trouble meant she was navigating people and signs in an attempt to visit The Velvet Room in the scorching heat of the summer. 

Ah, as predicted. A glowing blue door down an alleyway, bookended by seedy shops and shuttered storefronts. Minako sighed and rubbed the back of her neck, relieved to finally be rid of this overload. 

Well, she would have been, if a dark haired male hadn’t emerged from the door just as she approached. 

Locking eyes, Minako froze; startled. Another Wild Card? There wasn’t exactly a way to excuse this away, she literally had her hand out to open the door. Her mouth opened a few times and closed, trying to think of something to say.

“Uh...i-it’s hot out today, huh?”

She had been observing Akechi for a while. Not quite to the point of stalking - at least, she’d deny it instantly - but just at odd moments. When he was out shopping, or eating; when she could catch him with the other group of potentials, when he was with that officer. Public places, where Minako wouldn’t stand out too much.

He’d probably noticed by now, though.

It was Minako’s duty at this point, however. A compulsion that manifested a physical form in the real world, much like the denizens of the Velvet Room would on their excursions with their ‘guests’. The only reason something like her existed any more, if existence was truly the world. 

He was a swirling mass of chaos, and Erebus thrived on his energy. 

That was honestly the problem. He felt so much like Ryoji, like the very thing she had sacrificed everything to prevent, that it jarred her into the busy streets of Tokyo when in all reality the redhead shouldn’t be there. The Fall was still very much a reality for humanity, and when Erebus took interest in someone, she noticed too. 

What the girl could actually do, however, was to be seen. 

So, the Fool gave up the game. She cornered him as the sun sunk over the city and streetlights flickered on, leaving that cafe he seemed to enjoy. Like an apparition made real, she squared her stance and her shoulders, blocking Akechi’s way.

She couldn’t have another Ryoji. 

“Hey.” 

She headed downstairs, bare feet padding across too-cold floorboards. The stark difference in temperature made the skin on Minako’s arms goosebump, and she instantly regretted leaving the warmth and comfort of her dorm room and bed. 

He hadn’t been answering mail, and the silence from her co-leader’s room lead her to believe he wasn’t in - though the possibility the blue haired Fool was ignoring her knocks and calls was pretty high. The sight of him slumped against the back of the couch, eyes closed and headphones on his ears made Minako sigh, and she headed across the lounge quickly. The faster she talked to him, the faster she could get back to her variety show and warmth. 

“Hey.” No answer. The redhead raised an eyebrow. Was Makoto actually asleep? “Heeeey.” Minako nudged his leg with a foot, slightly annoyed. She knew him well enough to know that his ability to tune most things out was second to none. 

Well, drastic times and all that.

She plopped herself next to him, pulling a earphone off and replacing it with her own. The contrast between the two songs must of been rather jarring, and she finally saw his eyebrow twitch in response. Minako leaned forward, glaring at his face.
