The late afternoon sun hits Jim's hair just right, and for a minute he looks like the little blonde kid Len met three years ago. He smiles and says something unintelligible to Spock and Spock actually laughs in response and Len hasn't felt this full of love in years. Or, maybe, ever. He loves Helena, of course, and he loves his parents, most of the time, but this feels different. They feel different. They're friends, of course, but they're also brothers, maybe, or in fact something different, but no less important. Whatever they are, they're each other's. Jim is Len's and Len is Spock's and Spock is Jim's and every combination thereof and that's something real and unshakeable. Something that no angry siblings or absent parents can disrupt.
