I didn't really wanna make this post because I feel like everything I'm going to say has already been said a hundred times. But whatever, let's add a one hundred and first time. Because I have thoughts. (I might delete it again, though.)
I'd say this show peaked with season 1. Season 2 was kinda unnecessary, but I did partially enjoy it. It would have been totally fine (and maybe better; I won't dive into the mischaracterisation of Crowley and Aziraphale, the changes of established timelines, like their first meeting, etc.) to leave it with one season. Season 3 then... I needed something after Final 15, alright.
Not that though. It was totally random imo. Maybe it would've been better as a whole season and not just a literal movie finale. The pacing was horrible and there wasn't a lot, if even any, build-up to... well, anything. Maybe then the disregard of everything we were led to believe about this series would've made more sense. (Tbh, I don't think so, but I am really really glad it wasn't cancelled because of NG.)
Free will
And the ending... horrendous. Wdym you just annihilate the universe and make a new one instead? What for?? Free will? You mean the free will that we established was a thing in season 1 already? That was the point, right. Sure, with God, you can never be sure if you actually have free will or if there is really a plan, if she really is the puppeteer of the universe. But considering that, in the new universe, humanity was just as fucked up, it does appear that either a) God screwed them over, or b) humanity made the same choices even without angels and demons influencing them. I don't know if I get my point across, but it appears that humans had free will all along. As established in season 1. Also, interesting to have Crowley advocate for free will and choices and then make the choice for humanity to be annihilated and start all over.
That's such a hopeless ending too. Season 1 basically argued "Even if the world is broken, it's worth fighting for this one, instead of destroying everything and starting over." Now, it's basically "Some things are too broken to fix, so you have to start over to fight the system." But we don't have that option. Instead of a message of hope, we got... nothing, actually.
Basically, the main characters we followed killed themselves. No, actually, Crowley made the choice to kill himself and Aziraphale and everyone else. And, as I already said, apparently, they died in vain.
Aziracrow vs Asanthony
I also don't fully get how people can say that Anthony and Asa are Crowley and Aziraphale. "Just reincarnated." Because... yeah, that's not them. Not really. But we got a great ending with a queer couple, so what more could we ask for?
You see, I don't give a fuck if these two get together or kiss or whatever. The whole appeal was them choosing each other for literally 6000 years. Since the beginning. Instead of their roles as angel and demon, instead of Heaven and Hell, instead of God's Great Plan. That's the dynamic I loved. Romantic love doesn't even come close to the kind of love I valued about this. It wasn't about them getting together, because they've always been more than that. Like, they were practically already married in every way that mattered. (but, just to make myself clear, I do ship them)
So, now that I've explained that, it's gotta be obvious why I don't think Anthony and Asa are the same people. They don't have these 6000 years I found compelling. Sure, they are in love. And that's great. But it's also not Aziracrow. Even if they are "them reincarnated". Because what I valued is gone.
Yes, it could have been "They find each other in every universe". Instead, it felt like: "They find each other in every universe. Except this one." This one that I loved? This one that I followed for two seasons? Like, come on... you cannot rip something of everything I valued about it and then expect me to... still value it. Just because it's "a queer couple (with the same faces and fragments of personality)". Er, a different one, to be fair. Queer couple ≠ queer couple, okay?
Wasn't that also an important point in S2? The Job thing, wasn't it? About how it's wrong to kill his children and give him new ones, because he loves his old children and they are not the same. How can you write this and not realise??
And another thing I am VERY hesitant about is the implication that Aziraphale and Crowley were meant to be. Like, decided by God. She says something like "Your love was [...], most predictable thing in the universe. And it always made me smile." As a writer, that made me smile for a moment. But then... then I realised. What should have been them defying their destined roles and choosing each other against all odds was heavily implied to be just another part of God's Ineffable Plan.

So many people have been in this fandom for literal years and found comfort in it and its hopeful message. I can't even try to imagine the grief you must feel.
I started watching it like two weeks ago. Or something like that. What do I know. I became invested in this really quickly. But it hasn't been such a huge part of my life.
The ending was blatant disrespect to the world, characters and themes that this show established from the very beginning. My first instinct of disliking something is usually based on vibes, tbh. I think it definitely says something that, for Good Omens, I knew the moment I finished it that this didn't add up.
(As I said, I might also delete this post again, I just needed to say this once.)
Sometimes when a task feels too overwhelming, your brain freezes and you just... can't start The Task.
Maybe that's what happened to Netflix with our beloved Dead Boy Detectives.
We all know this show is overwhelmingly great. You could've called me for body doubling...
I’ll cry if I think about them for too long but you’re Charles Rowland you’re a biracial punk and you’ve been getting the shit kicked out of you by your father your entire life but you see a Pakistani kid getting beat for being Pakistani and you can’t help it, you’re afraid but you stop it. You’re half Indian why are you any different? The racist little white boys agree. They beat you too. You make it away. You’re cold, so cold and something’s very wrong with you, and then you see a light. But you’re not dead. It’s another boy your age and he tells you he’s dead. He died in this same shitty boarding school and he reads you a bedtime story as you fall asleep. You’re dead now and he’s still here. He knew you were dying and he didn’t want you to be scared. He crawled out of Hell and the first thing he did was comfort you as you lay dying.
Why wouldn’t you run from death with him? Why wouldn’t you spend your eternity with him? Why wouldn’t you love him?
Sooo, I wanted to try that recipe from Cleo's profile; I'd been weirdly fixated on it all week. I don't even like cooking or baking, so no idea where that came from. Anyway, I had time today, so I gave it a shot.
Tastes good, btw. Can recommend.

Motivated by Moonvale's Episode 3 and the incredibly long waiting periods between the episodes (that I've avoided so far by forgetting about the game every few months), I just started replaying Duskwood (again).
ONLY HEARING THE SOUND MADE ME FEEL SO EXCITED AND NOSTALGIC.
It really is something else. I know where my heart lives. Jessy, Jake, I'm coming home.
Anyone else wondering...
Who tf is Brian? Where is he? Why haven't we met him yet? Why isn't he mentioned anymore? It's been a while, so... what's up with this guy??
‼️Moonvale Episode 3 / Duskwood Sidestory SPOILER‼️
I don't remember what exactly I wanted to find out, but I googled something, and FUCK GEMINI, it SPOILED EVERYTHING!!!
‼️Moonvale Episode 3 / Duskwood Sidestory SPOILER‼️
Last night, I dreamt about an AU where Dead Boy Detectives was never cancelled. In season 2, Charles had finally realised his feelings for Edwin. Season 3 was dropping on Netflix next week.
And then I woke up 💔 back to our sad, cruel reality that sucks.

I’m so serious.
Do NOT open your doc. That document does not love you. That document wants 80k words and emotional stability. We do not have that, especially in this economy. Instead, hear me out- shiny.
Yes, shiny.
What does the cover look like. Not “a cover.” I mean the exact cover. Is it black with gold foil. Is there a tiny symbol in the corner that looks decorative but is actually a war crime in disguise.
What does the spine look like on a shelf. Would it intimidate other books. Be honest.
Bookmark. And I don’t mean rectangular. I mean a bookmark based on that sword design. Yes, the sword you have not explained. Why is it shaped like that. Why does it ruin lives.
Jewelry. There is always jewelry. Who has a necklace. Who gave it. Why does it emotionally devastate me, personally, a stranger. Which stone would be added to the chain and make the peeps go wild.
Keychains. Charms. Stickers. That one quote that would end up on a tote bag and make someone in public go “oh.” and stare into the void for 45 minutes.
Imagine the illustrations. No, go further. The exact illustrations. Posters. Full page plates that make people stop and go “wait.” Tiny ones hidden between paragraphs like little secrets. Marginalia that looks like someone annotated the book and slowly lost their mind. Are there sketches of creatures. Maps. Unreliable diagrams. Be honest, are you putting something unhinged in the corner that only makes sense on a second read-
Chapter headers. I need you to get weird about chapter headers. Are they clean and elegant or are they slowly deteriorating as the story goes on. Do they have little symbols. Do the symbols CHANGE. Is there a point where the headers start telling their own story. Hello????
The layout. Oh my god the layout. Is there a chapter where the text shifts. Where it fragments. Where it mirrors something happening in the story. Are there pages with too much space. Not enough space. A line isolated in the center like it just got exiled.
Don’t even get me started on special editions. Deckled edges. Hidden messages under the dust jacket. Endpapers with art that looks decorative until you realize it is foreshadowing and now you feel sick.
Become a little Magpie. Hoard it all. No plot, only sparkle. No book, only trinkets.
And now the evil part: this is psychology.
Your brain sees “write a book” and goes “absolutely not ❤️” that is a massive, terrifying, perfectionism-infested task. Immediate shutdown. Windows error sound.
But “what if this guy had a ring that symbolized betrayal” is tiny. Harmless. A snack. Your brain LOVES snacks. Dopamine. Curiosity. Zero pressure. So it engages. And once it engages, it starts asking questions. Oh, why betrayal. Who betrayed him. When. Oh no. Oh NO. That’s a scene. That’s a chapter-
That’s you accidentally writing again like a FOOL (lovingly). You lowered the stakes so hard your brain forgot to be scared.
This is called tricking yourself into creativity and it is both stupid and extremely effective.
You are not writing a book. You are building a cursed little treasure hoard. And unfortunately, the hoard comes with lore. Lore only YOU can create.
Executive dysfunction becomes: the task is no longer “write chapter 3” (illegal, blocked, cursed), it is “what would the chapter 3 illustration look like and why?” (harmless, delicious, suspiciously leading to writing chapter 3).
This is my Magpie Theory, from a fellow girlie with ADHD and perfectionism: your brain literally cannot handle “write 80k words coherently,” but it will handle thinking about every tiny shiny object your story could inspire. Covers, spines, bookmarks, keychains, necklaces, chapter headers, illustrations, layouts, special edition sprayed edges, marginalia that slowly becomes a villain… literally anything shiny.
Good luck lil Magpie.
i’ve seen so many people constantly insinuate that charles’ feelings towards edwin have GOT to be romantic because of how clearly strong they are. and while there’s a part of me that wants to shake those people by the shoulders and yell about how, no, charles’ platonic love for edwin is still just as important and as potent as edwin’s romantic love for charles, i gotta say that mr “maybe that’s why i like her so much” makes it real hard for me to make that point…
yes, charles’ platonic feelings would mean just as much as edwin’s romantic ones. but no, i honestly don’t think that charles loves edwin in a strictly platonic way regardless, so my point does kinda go out the window there 😭
