Hi all!

I’ve decided to “retire” this blog. I used to like having separate blogs for separate subjects but the way tumblr functions now it’s kind of pointless and tedious for me. I will not be deleting it and will leave it up but will no longer be posting. I also don’t keep as many fish as I have in the past and don’t have a lot of content to share regularly.

The mated pair of angelfish are spawning tonight! Maybe they won’t eat the eggs this time heh

Manacapuru (F1) X Smokey

The Smokey is so random since she came in a bag of “wild” angels but I have a soft spot for her! The first angels I ever bred were Smokeys and it’s nice to be reminded of where you started sometimes.

It’s so incredible to watch a species of extinct fish reproduce in your home aquarium.

Skiffia francesae giving birth! There are 2 baby skiffia and what I think is a baby swordtail in the last pic. Mama skiffia still has a looooong way to go too.

2 comets, 2 hibuna, and a wakin

I got the goldfish acclimated and in the pond! They sent me a few more than expected (which is fine, my pond is plenty big enough) so prepare for goldfish spam! It was a really nice mix of hibuna, comets, wakins, and one watonai. Most have good body conformation, all appear healthy!! The first group of pics are just going to be individuals, I’ll get some pics / video of them in the pond after an hour or so to let them settle in. I didn’t bother sexing them but I’ll label them with what type they are.

After over a year (or more, time is meaningless to me lol) of working on the pond empty I’ve finally ordered goldfish! It’s a blind box of higher-end long bodied goldfish, I won’t know exactly what I’m getting until they’re here! So I’m doing a cleaning and trim on the plants today! i was going to drain it completely but I’ve already got tadpoles in there and don’t want to disturb them too much.

Nerites are such amazing little creatures. I’ve had 2 olive nerites for going on 5 years now and I love them but when I was pulling old plants and clippings on friday out of my former goldfish tank, I accidentally pulled one of my nerites with them and she’s been in a (mostly) dry bucket since then. I was taking the bucket of clippings out to the compost this morning and noticed the nerite, and immediately tossed her back into the tank. She’s now cruising around like nothing happened. I wish I could recover that quickly lmao

Was going back thru my blog and I just wanted to say that these 2 Olive nerites are still alive and well and are actually older than I initially remembered. Got them at my old LFS job which was 9 years ago :0

I love my little old snails and they love living in the “big” tank haha

Paludarium fish updates! All are settling in well and eating EVERYTHING offered. One of the skiffia ladies is very pregnant too.

It’s really difficult to get decent pics at this time of day (the glare is really bad) but my new fish for the paludarium got here earlier! I’m considering this a loose Yucatán / south eastern Mexican biotope since the skiffia are extinct in the wild. I obviously still need to finish the final insert but I also was planning on letting the fish / plants get established for at least a month before introducing Tiger to the tank anyway. I’ll try to get some better pics throughout the day and will post them over on @charming-eel :)

I’m not really sure what this is referring to but if it’s the numbers it’s a system for listing the sex of an animal.
