I like ‘kids’ more than adults, so I’ll take your word for it and you can consider me your friend. Okay, that sounded way better in my head. Am I lame for that? I think most people would deem that as lame.

Brennan let the elder speak, gently running his fingers through her hair to calm her as much  as he could in that moment. He only held her tighter when he was pushed, kissing her forehead softly, “You have to choose, Char. Someone is going to get hurt in this situation and if I’m going to be honest, there’s no way around hurting yourself or Mary…”

Wiping away tears, letting drops roll over her fingers, and Charmaine set her shoulders as if she were preparing for battle. “Will you hate me if I choose Ken? Or will you hate me if I choose Mary? I know everyone else will hate me if I chose Kennedy. And I can’t handle that. I can’t handle being hated for anything I do.”
