very annoying that every general statement about sexism has to be softened with not all men like if you can't discern that we're talking about the societal structures at play and not every single man on a personal level i don't know what to tell you

Friendly reminder that JK Rowling is the executive producer for this show. So in addition to benefiting monetarily from its very existence, she will be an active participant in creating its narrative. I won't be watching it and I encourage everyone else to ignore its existence as well.

i'm not even gonna do the performative thing and pretend that i think harry potter was always bad; i loved the series growing up. it's a fun children's fantasy series. but i moved on. i divested, and you can too. it's so easy to not play a video game. there are other fanasy franchises you can consume guilt free. it's ridiculous to have this much of your identity invested in a fucking brand, even if it wasn't a brand that supports bigotry and genocide rhetoric

i think what i hate most is the fucking insecurity. the constant need for validation from us that it's ok to still want to play wizard game. the indignation that someone dared ask you to inconvenience yourself in the name of solidarity to some of the most critically vulnerable people in society rn
