Delighted that 'Before This Moon' has been shortlisted for the Short Story section of the HISSAC annual competition.

âWhen I was 10 years old, I saw a film about the Killing Fields,â Lomorpich Rithy recalls. âI said, OK, thatâs a Cambodian-Hollywood film. âBut 15 years later, itâs still all about the Khmer Rouge. Khmer Rouge and Angkor Wat are the only two things that outside people know about us. What about my generation?â While Angelina Jolieâs First They Killed My Father may have reminded the international community of Cambodiaâs heavy history, the nationâs arts still remain unknown to most outside the country.
When the chips were down, this amazing artist stepped in to save her former mentor. Proud to have been able to report on these inspiring humans.

From April to July 2016, I travelled, mostly by bicycle, across New Zealand, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia, assisting with a story-collecting project.
