FELIX'S FIRE PHOTOS

Hi! I’m Felix, and I am a fire buff and photographer from Toronto, Canada. I photograph Toronto Fire Services’ operations, but I have no formal or official affiliation with them, or the TPFFA. Photographing the fire service like this is an activity that falls into the category of fire buffing, which has a long history within the culture of firefighting. I have been actively fire buffing since April of 2024.

Toronto firefighters on scene at a 2-alarm residential fire at 35 Newman avenue. The fire began in a rooftop solar panel and extended slightly into the roof joists and eaves. Crews knocked it down before it could spread further. The solar panels presented a hazard, and crews treated them as live until they could be de-energized and isolated from the grid. Tarps were laid on top of them to prevent them from generating more power as crews worked.

Toronto Firefighters on scene at a shed fire on Richmond Street West on Saturday, May 30th. The fire affected two sheds but was put out before it spread to any other structures. No injuries were reported.

Super pleased with how the roof operations happened to line up with the CN tower from where I was standing! Saw some familiar faces at this fire too.

I didn’t arrive very early to this fire so I missed what crews saw when they arrived, which was the entire back exterior of the building as well as much of the interior involved in fire. Crews applied water from the interior and the exterior and performed searches. No human injuries were reported, but unfortunately two dogs lost their lives.

No fires near me at all the past few weeks plus super busy with school so I’ve just been improving my map. I’ve adjusted the scale of all the elements so it is more suitable for printing larger, so you might have to zoom in a lot. Also wayyyyy higher quality now so I’m going to get it printed huge and put it up on my wall like it’s a fire station. (They have maps similar to this one in the stations I’ve visited but they don’t publish them so I’ve had to make my own)

Tower 114 well out of its first-run area, in fact, well out of north command, all the way down at Bay Street and Cumberland Street in south command, for a familiarization training tour of Bay subway station. Pretty cool to see since I normally never see them because they’re stationed way up in north command.
