Joel is leaned over his desk, holding his head and groaning softly as she enters.

“Shh. I’m hung over.”

He blinks at her statement, looking genuinely confused.

“Th’fuck…”

Realization spreads over his face as he nods.

“Oh yeah, the note. I got drunk and I think I scrawled some stuff about my psychology class in there. The persona and all that.”

“…Huh.  Well I mean.  In this case I was confused because you know those people’s personal shadows and stuff?  If they can overcome them and accept them as a part of them, or if they’re planted artificially, they can become a sort of psychic manifestation of the self that can perform magic and shit and sometimes has a unique ability all of its own.  My Father has Fafnir.”

When she’s shaken up, she suddenly shouts out “FAFNIR STOP!”  screaming as she suddenly pulls out Raijinken and holds it to Joel’s throat briefly…before she stops and lets out a short sigh, letting the sword vanish.

“Oh it’s just you…”

“Don’t worry, I’ve come closer to death than that before.”

Joel’s expression falls as he hears Amber’s tone and slowly thinks over her words, slowly and awkwardly reaching out to pat her on the shoulder.

“Shit’s fucked up.”

He pauses again for a long, awkward moment.

“Anything I can do to like. Cheer you up or something?”

“…Not really, no.” Amber states honestly, her ears drooping a little and her tail waving from side to side before her eyes narrow.

“..tonight I’m going to be staying in though, have some chili and some drinks so since you can see the Shadows and enter the Shadow Campus how about I text you if someone gets pulled in?  Your guns seems to be pretty effective.”

“…speaking of why do they even let you have those on campus?”

Joel nods dutifully, accepting the task without complaint.

Joel raises his hand as if to explain, then simply shrugs.
