How I got diagnosed with selective mutism
First of all what is selective mutism?
Selective mutism is a severe anxiety disorder which makes the person affected not able to talk in certain situation or with certain people even though they're normally are able to talk
Ah yes I remember the first time I read those two words on the internet while being in that stupid fucking phase where I watched one vid an diagnosed myself with 50 disorders.
I gladly snapped out of it and stopped telling people about those disorders I never had, i didn't know at the moment that I actually HAD selective mutism already in fact looking back at it I started showing signs in the 3rd class but yeaah a two years later or so I get a REALLY REALLY bad depressive episode which lasted for 2 months so of course my mom gets me a therapist, then I met my first therapist she did an IQ test on me we tried talking (which didn't really work) and then the contact ends and she sends me away with a list of stuff I should look into. (Selective mutism didn't stand on it) at that moment my family thought it may be autism and depression, we get a list of therapist and psychiatrist near us
Months later I start getting tested for autism, we get people to work on some questions sheets and of course me and my mom both answered some too, we have multiple meetings were we play uno or do some quizzes ect the diagnostic comes, I get diagnosed with depression and selective mutism with suspect ADHD and autism.
After that I got a therapist who wasn't the nicest to me. He made me question if I really do selective mutism and over time I questioned myself so here's an piece of advice for literally any disorder.
not everyone will believe you. Not every quiz will tell you that you have it.
But remember if you got professional diagnosed you very VERY likely have it but if you want to make sure get tested again
